Inspired by Silksong: Aesir Interactive Declares September 5th the Day of Play & Inspiration

The day after the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong reminds us why we love games. They need to be experienced and felt. Playing is not just entertainment, but a source of new ideas and a tool to continuously refine our craft. As Shigeru Miyamoto once said: "When I'm making video games today, I want people to be entertained. ... And as long as I can enjoy something other people can enjoy it, too."

To ensure our team can fully embrace this spirit, we have designated this date as a paid holiday for all employees. In today’s world, it is often difficult to consciously set aside time for playing. This challenge affects not only players but also developers, who are frequently shaped by production pressures and deadlines. With the Day of Play & Inspiration, we want to deliberately create this space, an invitation to pause, immerse ourselves in game worlds, gather impressions, and learn from them. Only those who truly understand what makes a game great can bring this knowledge into their own work.

Our projects have always been shaped in close collaboration with the community. Feedback, ideas, and the passion of our players make our games come alive. This is exactly why we are developing our latest title, Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori, together with our community almost from month one. This exchange defines the game and makes it a living example of how we see collaboration, not just creating for players, but with them. On the Day of Play & Inspiration, we honor this community, draw inspiration from masterpieces like Silksong, reflect on their systems and emotions, and celebrate the passion that unites us all developers and players alike.

The insights we gain on the Day of Play & Inspiration flow into our entire portfolio. They enrich not only our own projects but also the valuable partnerships we maintain with publishers such as Mindscape, Astragon, Nacon, and others. In the past, we have been able to realize major projects with their support and together we will continue to create games that are carried by the community and captivate players worldwide.

From now on, the Day of Play & Inspiration will take place every year on September 5th. For Aesir, it will be more than a holiday. It is a ritual that reminds us why we create games: because we love them, because we play them, and because we bring them to life together with our community.
