Die Ausstellung »Call for Type« bietet Einblicke in die Welt des Type–Designs. Sie beleuchtet bewusst den Entwurfsprozess und seine Entscheidungen – den Weg, den Schriften nehmen, bevor sie auf PCs oder in Druckereien zur Anwendung kommen. Ziel der Ausstellung ist es, Schriftentwürfe junger Font-Designer vorzustellen und eine aktuelle Positionsbestimmung vorzunehmen. Juni 2013, 18:30

Cake Publishing just updated their webshop, making the IMPRINT Edition 01 available online.

The limited 12-inch vinyl record accompanied the IMPRINT Fair with five exclusively produced tracks, based on twenty-six experimental glyphs.

A range of international font designers and foundries were invited to experimentally address the topic of font design and contribute one of twenty-six glyphs. These glyphs were turned into various samples, which in return were used by a selection of musicians to produce the five tracks, that are featured on this edition.

To everybody still looking for Christmas presents: The exhibition catalogue „Neue Schriften. New Typefaces.“ can be purchased at Niggli starting now!
The book has become a who is who of contemporary type design, featuring interviews with type designers such as Gerard Unger, Peter Bil’ak, Nadine Chahine, Radim Pesko, Timo Gaessner.
19 typefaces from the exhibition, as well as 50 selected type designs submitted to the Open Call for Type are presented in detail.
