OPENING THURSDAY 12/7 - Art, Design + AI exhibition by Parsons School of Design x LG AI Research, held at the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries. Featuring JAW STUDIO’s selected works titled “Boundary Conditions” with pieces spanning from 2017-2023.

“This body of work explores an iterative process to generate objects within virtual boundaries reflecting physical parameters. Utilizing a simulated physics engine, the pieces mimic real world physics through mapping geometries, in a cycle from physical to digital to physical object. Like other forms of AI, this generative approach results in a series of assemblages that are not only unique in themselves, but are a site-specific response as they manifest in different formations on the body.“

To celebrate 10 years: the piece that started it all 🛠️

SPIRE DRESS. Entirely 3D printed in nylon using a zero-waste fabrication process. Design collaboration with Ross Leonardy.

I established myself as a designer in 2013 while I was still a student at Parsons and launched my website alexiswalsh.com. Throughout the years, I’ve worked on creating art pieces and fashion work for exhibitions and runway shows. In 2017 I started collaborating with my partner (now husband lol) Justin Hattendorf, and we eventually launched a design studio together, JAW STUDIO. Our focus has slowly shifted into creating jewelry and objects for sale, but sculptural fashion will always be part of the DNA.

Looking back on my career, I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. Some of my followers have been around since SPIRE DRESS first debuted in 2014, and all the craziness that came with it. Thank you so much for being part of this journey, and it’s been so much fun to explore different product categories and grow 🤍 Can’t wait to see where we go next ✨
