The grande finale of the summer school for diverse startups was not about presenting polished pitch decks. It showed how much the teams had developed within just a few days: clearer positioning and a better understanding of what investors, partners and potential customers expect.

Congratulations to valueverde, who convinced the jury and received the 🏆 Digital Award of Stadt Leipzig, including 2000€ in prize money. The team also won tickets to the Web Summit, sponsored by Germany Trade & Invest.

Another highlight was welcoming Jaren Schippert from identity.vc as speaker. identity.vc 🦄 Backing LGBTQ+ Entrepreneurs is a European venture capital fund that invests in early-stage startups with LGBTQ+ representation at founder or C-level. Jaren shared insights on how investors can actively contribute to a more diverse and inclusive startup ecosystem.

++MAIA has secured over €4 million in funding! +++

As we welcome Batch #6 of the Summer School for Diverse Startups, this milestone shows what long-term support within a strong startup ecosystem can achieve. MAIA began its journey with our Summer School for Diverse Startups, continued at HHL DIGITAL SPACE , and later joined the SpinLab acceleration program.

Now, the -based startup is entering its next growth phase with a 💸new financing round led by our partner Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen. The SBG – Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is also joining as a new investor.

MAIA helps technical companies make complex and fragmented knowledge accessible. Its AI software connects information from manuals, technical drawings, reports, standards, and internal systems to provide employees with reliable, transparent, and traceable answers within seconds. The new funding will enable the startup to expand its development, sales, and marketing teams and accelerate its growth across the DACH region.

From Dubai to Berlin: GITEX has arrived in Europe.

After experiencing GITEX GLOBAL in Dubai, SpinLab and ExciteLab joined GITEX AI EUROPE in Berlin this week.

GITEX has long been a meeting point for global technology ecosystems. With its European edition in Berlin, the conference brings together policymakers, technology leaders, investors, corporates and entrepreneurs to discuss Europe’s role in the global AI economy.

The motto: Choose Europe. 🇪🇺

Across the conference, the focus was on the foundations Europe needs to compete in AI: compute capacity, energy infrastructure, digital sovereignty, industrial strength, investment and faster implementation.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We were excited to see such strong interest in ExciteLab and SpinLab and really appreciated everyone who took the time to wait, ask questions and connect with us.

We swapped laptops for running shoes and joined the schnelleStelle.de Firmenlauf . 4.9 km, lots of familiar faces from Leipzig’s business community and plenty of team spirit. Whether it was about setting a personal best, enjoying a relaxed run, or simply making it to the finish line: our team delivered. 💪

Same time next year? We’d say: challenge accepted.

What started with a viral LinkedIn blogpost by investor Andreas Klinger quickly turned into a Europe-wide debate and into a broader movement backed by founders, investors, and startup organizations across the continent. 🌍

🎤At this year’s SpinLab Investors Day, Clark Parsons, CEO of the European Startup Network and Advisor at United Founders, took up this debate in his keynote “EU Inc – Goals and Status Quo.” He outlined why Europe’s fragmented legal and investment landscape remains a major barrier and why a shared framework could help give European founders a fairer shot.

SpinLab and ExciteLab are entering into a strategic partnership with Startup Factory boOst .

Together, we want to help founding teams connect earlier with the right markets, pilot customers, industry partners and investors. Especially in deep-tech fields such as semiconductors, photonics, HealthTech and industrial technologies.

For startups coming out of research, great technology is only one part of the journey. Access to customers, capital and experienced partners is just as important to build scalable companies.

Investors Day it’s a wrap!!! 👏

Across two stages, the programme focused less on trends and more on the underlying mechanics of the startup ecosystem. Discussions around 🇪🇺 and the proposed “28th regime” explored what unified legal frameworks for startups and investors could realistically look like and where political ambition still meets operational reality.

🎤At the same time, several panels challenged traditional VC structures. Conversations around search funds, evergreen models, RIAs and venture studios reflected a broader shift in how capital is being deployed and how long-term company building may evolve in Europe.

What made the invetsors day special was the mix of perspectives. From policy and regulation to fund operations and early-stage investing.

Beyond the discussions, the masterclasses added a practical layer to the event. From understanding EU Inc from an investor perspective to exploring how AI agents can support portfolio monitoring and information workflows.

More than 200 investors joined us in📍Leipzig, alongside startup presentations from the SpinLab Group, the Investors Dinner and the .festival. 🏆Congrats to navou for winning the best pitch award by Stadt Leipzig and nextract energy secured the green impact award by Aurel Steinert Stiftung & MVV Stiftung Zukunft.

What started as an initiative to improve access to the startup ecosystem has grown into a proven program. Now entering its 6th edition. Every year, founders, mentors, and ecosystem partners come together in 📍 to support startups from underrepresented backgrounds.

During this one-week program, you’ll work on advancing your business. From refining your model to exploring funding opportunities and strengthening your pitch. Expect hands-on workshops, 1:1 sessions, and mentoring by experienced founders and investors.

The next cohort takes place July 20–24, 2026 in Leipzig.
