A Dark Side
At some point, every musician feels the pull toward unfamiliar territory—the urge to explore sounds beyond their established identity. Beneath the surface, there is often a private inclination, a hidden musical fascination that rarely finds its way into the spotlight.
For me, that fascination is EBM—Electronic Body Music. Not to be confused with EDM, EBM occupies a distinctly different space: raw, physical, and uncompromising. It channels an almost primal energy, emphasizing rhythm and intensity over convention.
The roots of EBM can be traced back to the 1980s and early 1990s, where its early elements surfaced alongside key figures of the wave scene. Over time, the genre has been shaped by influential artists such as Nitzer Ebb, Phase Fatale, and Thomas P. Heckmann, each contributing to its evolution and enduring presence.
Today, EBM stands as a vital force within contemporary electronic music culture, deeply embedded in clubs and underground venues worldwide. It is, at its core, music for the body—direct, driving, and unapologetically physical.

Hybrid set!
This Saturday I’m playing my very first hybrid set at the new Distillery in Leipzig.
No secret—the Distillery has shaped me massively over the past 10 years. Musically and personally, it’s where I found (and re-found) myself.
Now we keep it moving.
See you Saturday from 5 a.m. till the end (let’s see if we make it to 10). Down in the cellar: fresh energy, tried-and-tested sound, and the right atmosphere.

Production Day
No musician has ever appeared out of nowhere.
Being a musician requires a great deal of dedication, a strong sense of responsibility, and a lot of passion.
Sometimes there are days when you feel as though you can’t create anything, and other days when ideas just bubble up inside you.
That doesn’t mean you’re any less or more creative on those days, but rather that you might be lacking a bit of emotional depth on a particular day to tap into the feelings you want to express in your music at that moment. That’s perfectly normal. (It would be awful if someone were always in the same state of mind.)
Use the emotions you have—otherwise, there’s no point in producing music.

That’s perfectly normal. (It would be awful if someone were always in the same state of mind.)
Of course, there are many reasons why you might not feel creative at times, but a lack of emotional depth can ultimately lead people to produce purely rational music just for the sake of creating something.
The result? Machine-like, monotonous music without a soul.
Use the emotions you have—otherwise, there’s no point in producing music.
New week, new start
Make the most of the time you have to practise, and keep learning and developing your skills.
Being a DJ isn’t just about playing records; it’s about understanding the bigger picture behind it all—how the music industry works, how the business side operates, how to read a crowd, and where to find the best tools for the job.
Many people think being a musician is the most relaxing thing in the world.
But what they don’t realise is that long after everyone else has gone to bed during the week, we’re still sitting at our computers answering emails, or in the studio producing new music to stay up to date, or at our desks finishing the latest version of our bio.
These are all the things that go unnoticed, yet are essential to pursuing your dream.
Don’t be fooled—being a DJ is more work than you think.
