Berlinale & European Film Market – It’s a Wrap ✨
What a week.
EFM Beyond truly found its audience this year — and maybe even a new one.
The Immersive Zone was constantly full.
Producers, sales agents, financiers and creatives from the traditional film world stepped into VR — many of them for the very first time. And what started as curiosity quickly turned into serious conversations about workflows, budgets, distribution models and how to expand IP across screens.
One of the most powerful aspects:
EFM invited the 24 creators of the exhibited projects to Berlin. They weren’t just showing work — they were present, accessible, in dialogue. They answered questions, shared production realities, discussed monetisation strategies and broke down misconceptions about XR and immersive storytelling.
This direct exchange between the film industry and immersive creators was exactly what EFM Beyond set out to create:
Not a showcase.
A meeting point.
Across panels, workshops and informal encounters, the conversation around worldbuilding, game engines, cross-IP strategies and new business models felt timely and necessary. The intersection between film, games, animation and XR is no longer theoretical — it’s operational.
Seeing established film professionals seriously consider stepping into immersive formats was a highlight.
EFM Beyond proved that there is space — and appetite — for cross-sector collaboration at the market level.
Huge thanks to all creators, partners, speakers and everyone who stepped into the Immersive Zone with curiosity and openness.
We’re just getting started. 🚀

XR Delegation Tour
Straight into Berlin’s XR scene.
We kicked off at the Martin-Gropius-Bau and spent the day meeting the people shaping immersive storytelling in the city — together with XRBB.
At Woodblock, we got insight into animation, immersive experiences and live entertainment (yes, the yellow office).
At the Humboldt Forum, we experienced a VR work centered on family and memory.
We closed with the ORIGINS Exhibition by Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig at Rheinbeckenhallen (Oct 2025 – Apr 2026). Thanks to Paolo Löffler for the insights.
Belin XR is thrilled to be collaborative and always evolving.

Still buzzing from Rotterdam. 🌊
Thanks a lot Ellen Kuo and Eva Langerak for having me (and my kids 🙃)
During the panel about the XR Lifecycle I spoke on,
we looked at where immersive works tend to stall, not because of a lack of quality, but because viable circulation pathways are still underdeveloped. Through practical breakdowns, failure analysis, and an open exchange with the audience, the core question kept coming back to:
What would meaningful circulation look like for immersive storytelling — and what needs to change for works to move beyond a single festival moment?
Huge thanks to my other brilliant panel:
David Massey (Moderator)
Luke Conroy & Anne Fehres
Chanel Kong
Evelyne Bozar
Carla Montelo
And to the IFFR team for creating a space where XR, art, and industry can truly meet.
Next stop: EFM / Berlinale — continuing the conversation on how immersive work can travel, become an economical case, and reach the audiences it deserves. 🚀
