Back in 1919 #ColumbusTubi was found by Angelo Luigi Colombo in Milano🇮🇹 As bicycles became very popular he provided tubes to Umberto Dei, Edoardo Bianchi and Atala just to name a few of his early clients. Columbus started to make tubes for aviation in the 20’s, as well as for racing cars and motorcycles. In the 30’s Bauhaus furniture designer Marcel Breuer invented tubular steel chairs and used #ColumbusTubing for most of his famous works. In the late 30’s an all time classic and revolutionary bicycle tube set “Columbus Aelle” was released. By then Colombo designed and built the butting machines himself and later provided chassis for Ferrari and Maserati racing cars 🏎 Of course we shouldn’t forget about #Cinelli, for instance the iconic 1982 #cinellilaser #trackbike by Andrea Pesenti. Actually #KeithHaring was supposed to draw all over the bike, but he found the frame so beautiful and didn’t feel like drawing on a piece of art. In the past 100 years they invented about 900 different types of tubes. For BMX, Keirin, Tour de France wins, you name it... We were lucky enough to visit Gruppo SPA a few times in the past, unfortunately we can not be @antoniocolombogallery in Milano to celebrate the 100th birthday of Columbus 🕊 Molte grazie 🥂 🍾
