Welcome to the hot and humid country of Malaysia where Leonie and Najwa are stationed. Let us introduce Team Malaysia 🇲🇾
Leonie (24) is doing her master's in Marine Environmental Studies at the Carl of Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany. Najwa (24) is currently doing her master's in Marine Sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

We are based at the Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CEMACS) in Penang, Malaysia which belongs to USM. Here we are navigating the research while exploring the area and keeping away from jellyfish, monkeys and mosquitos!

Meet Team Chile! 🇨🇱
We are Paula, a marine biologist from the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, and Tim, a Master’s student in Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution at the University of Tübingen. Together, we are investigating how different underwater soundscapes influence the settlement of marine organisms along the Chilean coast as part of GAME 2026.
We are also proud to be the only GAME team based in America (and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere) bringing a unique perspective from this region to the global experiment.

GAME 2026 has officially started!!

Over the past month, 14 students from Germany, Malaysia, Chile, the Philippines and Spain came together in Kiel, Germany to prepare this year’s project:
The influence of underwater soundscapes on the colonisation of hard-bottom communities.

The group picture was taken on Hallig Hooge during our first field trip – more to come soon!

By now, everyone is heading to their destinations and getting ready to start the experiments. We’re beyond excited to see how everything unfolds and can’t wait to share the journey with you.
