Our July Rooibos of the Month: Wupperthal 💜

Sunbird Rooibos is the first to produce a range of premium, single-origin, naturally grown Rooibos to display unique flavours resulting from growing conditions.

One of our loose leaf varieties. Wupperthal is situated on the East side of the Cederberg range, behind the rain shadow and on the edge of the Tanqua Karoo, this is the hottest and driest site within our Single Origin collection. Shale soils also contribute to a robust leaf that is dark in colour. It is said that extreme weather results in notably higher quality tea compared to Rooibos growing in other parts of the Cederberg. 🌱

Honey and nutty aromas with hints of thatch lead into an ultra-smooth palate. Medium-bodied but full, sweet flavours and floral notes make for an exceptional tea. ☕️

Last week, we escaped to the breathtaking Cederberg to spend time with our Rooibos farmers — reconnecting with nature, our people, and the land that makes Sunbird Rooibos so special.
A grounding experience, and a beautiful reminder that every cup starts here — rooted in soil, sunshine, and generations of care. What a wonderful way to celebrate what we do, right before Worker's Day!
