𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁.

Our software engineers and product managers recently came together in Munich for a two-day AI Summit. The goal was simple: to define how we want to use AI in software development—one of the most transformative applications of AI today.

Rather than discussing AI in theory, we focused on practical experience. We collected insights from across the team, reflected on our individual experimentation with AI tools, and identified concrete opportunities to:
• Increase productivity
• Automate repetitive tasks such as documentation and unit test creation
• Explore end-to-end agent workflows with humans remaining firmly in control

Over two intensive days, the team evaluated current AI tools, discussed real-world use cases, tested new approaches, and explored what responsible, efficient, and future-oriented AI adoption should look like within our development environment.

We were also inspired by an outstanding keynote presentation from Michael Steil (https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0vTfS80), software engineer, serial entrepreneur, and computer archeologist. Michael shared three distinct approaches to AI-assisted software development—unsupervised, test-driven, and interactive—each illustrated with practical examples and innovative workflows.

For Smart In Media, it is clear that AI is becoming increasingly important not only in digital pathology itself but also in the design, development, testing, and delivery of medical software.

The AI Summit was an important step in aligning our teams around a shared vision: using AI thoughtfully to build better software, faster, while maintaining the quality, safety, and reliability that medical applications demand.

The outcome of the summit is a set of concrete initiatives that we will now integrate into our development processes over the coming months.

Anyone who wants to see where digital pathology is really heading should stop by our space at HUAWEI’s booth from Tuesday to Thursday. Our Smart In Media team will show how high-performance diagnostic platforms, IMS, intelligent storage concepts, and surprisingly lean hardware setups come together.

This is where things get concrete: What already works for pathologists in daily practice? What truly takes pressure off lab teams? What is new and relevant from a technology perspective for IT teams enabling digital pathology? And what is next on the roadmap? We will be developments shaping the future of pathology.

That is exactly what we will be focusing on at our stand in Hall 1.2.

This week, Smart In Media participated in INFORSALUD 2026 in Madrid.

A particular highlight for us was the sponsored session with José Luis Solórzano, MD, PhD, from MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid — a valued Smart In Media customer — who shared how digital infrastructure in pathology can connect tissue, data, and clinical decision-making.

His presentation made one thing very clear: digital pathology creates value when it is embedded in a validated, traceable, and clinically meaningful workflow. Not as an isolated demo. Not as a standalone AI feature. But as part of a connected architecture designed for real diagnostic use.

This is exactly where Smart In Media contributes: helping pathology teams build digital workflows that support collaboration, scalability, and clinical relevance in routine practice.
