Yawm al-Nahr, the day millions of pilgrims, from every corner of the world, carry out the same rites, remember the same story, and worship the same Lord.

As we reflect on the sacrifice of Ibrahim (AS), we're reminded that our strength lies not only in what we give up for Allah, but in the unity that brings us together for His sake.

Under a blanket of stars, they are reminded of what truly matters. Our dependence on Him, our journey back to Him, and the unity that brings us together.

Lā ilāha illā-Allāh, waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu-l-mulk, wa lahu-l-ḥamd, wa Huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in Qadīr.

There is no god worthy of worship but Allah. He is Alone and He has no partner whatsoever. To Him Alone belong all sovereignty and all praise. He is over all things All-Powerful.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best duʿā’ is the duʿā’ of the day of ʿArafah. The best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is [the above].” (Tirmidhī 3585)

Labbayka Allāhumma labbayk, labbayka lā sharīka laka labbayk, inna-l-ḥamda wa-n-niʿmata laka wa-l-mulk, lā sharīka lak.

Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Truly, all praise and blessings belong to You, and all sovereignty. You have no partner.

On the first day of Ḥajj, the pilgrims enter into the sacred state of iḥrām and begin their journey to Minā, answering the call of Ibrāhīm عليه السلام with hearts full of humility, hope, and longing.
