Wo auch immer man herkommt, weshalb man hierher kommt oder in welcher Welt man hier auch lebt, wir alle haben zwei Dinge gemeinsam: Wir leben in diesem Moment in Berlin und wir alle genießen und brauchen das Essen. Etwas so simples wie Essen macht uns neugierig und glücklich, bringt uns zum Staunen, lässt uns wohlfühlen, kann auch mal verwundern, und vor allen Dingen so genussvoll und lecker sei

n. Eine Stadt, die durch die vielen Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Welten und Kulturen am Brummen ist. Es wohnen so viele unterschiedliche Menschen in der Stadt. Da sind die, die schon immer in Berlin wohnen und die, die seit Jahrzehnten und Generationen Berlin ihr Zuhause nennen und die, die erst seit ein paar Jahren, Monaten und Tagen in der Stadt leben wie all die Neuankömmlinge aus Australien, Marokko, Amerika, Frankreich, Afghanistan, Syrien oder dem Irak. Einige bleiben nur für einen Moment und andere ihr ganzes Leben lang. Wir alle leben in unserer eigenen Welten und Traditionen. Traditionen die wir aus unseren Familien mitbringen, von Freunden lernen oder Rituale, die wir im Laufe der Jahre entwickeln. Und irgendwie schaffen wir es die meiste Zeit aneinander vorbei zu leben. Lasst uns das ändern! Wir laden Euch ein mit uns zu essen. Ihr, die Reisenden, Neuankömmlinge, Locals, werdende Locals, Familien und Freunde. THE COMMON BOWL ist ein monatliches Abendessen, bei dem wir an einem Tisch zusammenkommen und gemeinsam essen. Es kostet nichts. Bringt nur ein oder zwei Gerichte mit und lernt einander durch die Geschichten des Essens kennen.

“Wie hast du das Brot gebacken? Woher kommt das Rezept? Wer hat es dir beigebracht? Woher kommst du? Wie lange lebst du schon in Berlin? “

Wherever you come from, for whatever reason, and in whichever world, you live in in Berlin. We all have two things in COMMON. We live in the same city for this moment plus we all need and eat food. Something so simple as food can be eye-opening, comforting, similar and different at the same time but enjoyable and delicious! Let's share our food traditions and passions. Berlin is a big city. An expanse with grave amounts of people streaming from various worlds and cultures. We all live within our own world and traditions. Traditions gathered from family, introduced from friends, or your own rituals developed through the years. This city holds no certain individual. It broadens from longtime locals; born and raised in this city to newcomers, discovering Berlin and sculpting out ways that make this city feel like home. There are people who stay for the moment and others who live for years. We can’t forget or deny all the newcomers from all over the world; ranging from America, Australia, Syria, France, Morocco, Spain, and/or Afghanistan, etc. Somehow we live all exist in this city but managing to not get in touch. Let's change that ! Travelers, newcomers, locals, going to be locals, family, and friends, we invite you all to join us to eat together. THE COMMON BOWL is a monthly dinner series where we come together at one table and eat together. There’s no charge, just bring a dish or two with you and get to know one another through the histories of these dishes. How did you bake this bread? Where does the recipe come from ? Who taught you how to make that dish? Does everyone in your country eat this meal? Where are you from? How long have you been living in Berlin for? Let’s explore the power of where food can take us . Hey! Remember Kathe Kaczmarzyk? About this time last year we started the The Common Bowl. Fortunately for this pickle (unfortunately for us in Berlin), she moved to London to open her own place. And its all about FERMENTATION! Lets support her campaign to make this possible.

With the last common bowl berlin edition we collected 40 euros for the project Bikeygees - Radfahrtraining für geflüchtete Frauen who are teaching displaced women and girls in berlin on how to ride a bike. Coming up this Friday is the Dumpling Edition which will be taking place at the lovely ! The world of Dumplings is VAST (from Ravioli, Pierogi, Empanadas, Samosas, Gnocchi, Kartoffelknödel, Wontons, etc) so come and share your version! Let it be what you've learnt from a family member growing up, from your heritage, or just your favorite Dumpling in general. Can't wait to see what everyone brings to the table ! ✨
