ALMOST SOMEONE ELSE BY ALMANA ✨

How much of who we are is chosen, and how much is shaped by the world around us?

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Italian designer Alfonso Nava, founder of Berlin-based independent fashion studio Almana, presented Almost Someone Else — a collection exploring identity, migration, memory, belonging and transformation.

Alfonso’s journey into fashion has been anything but conventional. Originally trained in International Law, he spent years working in human rights before leaving that career at the end of 2022 to dedicate himself entirely to fashion.

Entirely self-taught, Alfonso approaches garment making with curiosity and experimentation. His practice combines traditional techniques with sculptural interventions, unconventional construction and material research, allowing intuition to guide the making process.

With Almost Someone Else, Almana asks us to consider identity as something that is never completely fixed.

The collection reflects on a world where we continuously cross geographical, cultural, linguistic, digital and emotional borders, sometimes finding ourselves belonging everywhere and nowhere at once.

Each silhouette represents a body in transition, caught between what has been left behind and what is still emerging.

The collection is built almost entirely from deadstock fabrics, reclaimed textiles and surplus materials. Discarded neckties, vintage buttons, reclaimed trims and leftover fabrics are transformed into new narratives, carrying traces of their previous lives while taking on completely different meanings.

Almost Someone Else does not speak about losing identity. It speaks about expanding it.

STRINGS OF LIFE BY MAVAZI ✨

Some connections are invisible. But they shape everything we become.

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Berlin-based fashion brand MAVAZI, founded by Kenyan designer Benter Rechenberg, presented Strings of Life — a collection inspired by the invisible connections that bring people together.

MAVAZI celebrates African heritage through contemporary fashion.

Strings of Life reflects on the relationships and encounters that become part of our personal stories. Some connections remain strong throughout our lives, while others become fragile, change or slowly disappear. Yet every connection leaves a mark.

The collection transforms this idea into a visual language through textile threads, traditional African beads and accessories, recycled denim, upcycled burlap, layered African prints and structured surfaces.

The contrast between delicate new and recycled materials and more defined structures reflects the balance between vulnerability and strength that exists within human relationships.

With a refined palette of neutral and harmonious tones, Strings of Life creates a sense of continuity while allowing individual threads and structures to stand out.

At its heart, the collection carries a simple message:

No life exists in isolation. We are shaped by the people we meet, the moments we share and the connections we carry with us.

MAVAZI transforms these invisible bonds into visible expressions of culture, memory, connection and identity.

GAME ON BY LILI ENGELHARDT ✨

When tradition meets a new generation, the rules begin to change.

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Heidelberg-based fashion designer Lili Engelhardt presented Game On — a collection exploring the changing relationship between fashion, generations, identity and self-expression.

Lili’s work combines a strong appreciation for timeless tailoring with a modern and experimental approach, creating clothing that feels familiar while offering a fresh perspective through unexpected combinations.

Game On looks at the contrast between the way previous generations approached fashion and the values reflected in how young people dress today.

While Lili’s grandparents’ generation was shaped by formality, discipline and clearly defined social expectations, her own generation places greater emphasis on individuality, comfort and self-expression.

The collection brings these worlds together.

Rather than treating tradition and modernity as opposites, Game On explores how both can coexist, creating a new visual language shaped by the values of today while still respecting the craftsmanship of yesterday.

Sometimes fashion changes when the rules change.

WEARABLE ART BY L.A.M.E.official ✨

What if the future of fashion isn’t about creating more, but reimagining what already exists?

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Berlin-based creative studio L.A.M.E.official brought its vision of sustainable customisation and wearable art to the runway.

Founded in Berlin during the 2020 lockdown, L.A.M.E.official began with a single hand-painted tote bag and has since grown into an international creative community built around sustainability, artistic expression and individuality.

No two pieces are the same.

Every garment is individually customised, allowing its previous life to remain part of the story while giving it a completely new identity. The result is fashion that feels less like mass production and more like an individual work of art made to be worn.

L.A.M.E.official’s work reflects a growing movement towards conscious consumption, creative sustainability and personal expression.

Rather than asking the fashion industry to simply produce more, L.A.M.E.official asks us to look differently at what we already have.

Because sometimes the most sustainable garment is the one that already exists. 🖤

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Berlin-based designer Chijoke D**e presented BCJ ESSENTIALS, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection from his premium activewear and lifestyle label, Beardedceejaay.

Built around the relationship between performance, comfort and contemporary design, the collection explores the growing role of activewear in everyday life, creating garments designed for people who move seamlessly between fitness, work and creative environments.

Inspired by movement as a symbol of progress, confidence and discipline, BCJ reflects a generation whose lives increasingly move between professional, creative and active spaces.

Rooted in Berlin’s diverse creative culture, the collection celebrates adaptability, wellbeing and authentic self-expression, recognising that sport, work, creativity and community are no longer separate worlds.

Where do we belong when the world keeps asking us to choose?

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, fashion designer and artist Marvis Sydneys presented IS THIS WHITE ENOUGH?! IS THIS BLACK ENOUGH?! PART II — a deeply personal exploration of identity, belonging and the experience of People of Color in Germany.

Drawing from personal experiences, Marvis uses fashion as both an artistic language and a political statement, bringing socially critical questions to the surface and creating space for conversation.

The collection explores the tension between Western and African cultural identities, using a striking black-and-white palette to represent the contrast between two worlds.

At its heart, IS THIS WHITE ENOUGH?! IS THIS BLACK ENOUGH?! PART II asks a powerful question:

Who gets to decide where we belong?

Fashion has no borders. It moves with us.

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Berlin-based designer Mina Muraschkin presented Mina Worldwide — a collection inspired by movement, travel, identity and the places that shape us.

Mina’s journey into fashion was deeply influenced by movement. After coming to Berlin to study fashion design, she became part of the city’s artistic and subcultural scene while also working as a dancer. This experience shaped her understanding of the body, rhythm and transformation.

Mina Worldwide was inspired by Mina’s travels. Each piece was created for another destination, translating the atmosphere and energy of places she has experienced around the world.

From Barcelona, Iceland and Paris to Los Angeles, Riyadh, Tunisia, Las Vegas, Puglia and Berlin, every destination became part of the collection’s visual journey.

THE THINGS WE CARRY BY NADIA DESAI✨

Some stories are carried in the clothes we wear.

For RTR Fashion Show – Edition III: Crossing Identities, Nadia Desai presented The Things We Carry — a deeply personal collection exploring grief, identity, memory, and emotional connection.

Born from the loss of her father, the collection began with inherited denim and his ties, transforming personal memories and materials into garments that carry new stories.

Raised between Saudi Arabia and England and now based in Berlin, Nadia’s multicultural background informs a design practice rooted in craftsmanship, adaptability, and personal storytelling.

Working primarily with inherited and reclaimed denim, her pieces explore patchwork, deconstruction and made-to-measure tailoring.

Every garment is named after people, places and passions connected to her father’s life, allowing memory to live on through the collection.
