This week was a blessing. And I don’t use that word lightly.
It started with a visit at the Malaysian Embassy — incredible food, generous hospitality, a reminder that a table well set brings everyone closer.
Friday I cooked a 5-course dinner for that I’m genuinely proud of. Rose petal mole. Beetroot ceviche — crunchy, bright, clean. The kind of menu that takes days to build 👨🏽‍🍳 and disappears in two hours. Worth every minute.
Saturday was something else entirely. I had the honor of welcoming activists from Sinaloa — members of the ¡Aquí No! collective — to the Taco Kween Studio. They are fighting a Swiss-German petrochemical company that wants to build an ammonia plant in their bay. Their declaration was clear and devastating: German money has become a condemnation for their community. I listened. I fed them. That’s what this space is for.

Sunday: Markthalle Neun. A Taste of Solidarity. I showed up to help and ended up in the middle of what felt a class reunion — chefs, cooks, food, people I love, all there, all present, all giving.
My take: Food is a great way in. But the people are always the point.
