Almost 900 meters of emptiness beneath your feet ⛰️
Daubenhorn is one of the longest via ferrata routes in Europe and the longest in Switzerland. In its full version, it’s 8–9 hours of climbing, over 2,000 meters of steel cable, hundreds of meters of ladders, a suspension bridge, and difficulty up to K6.

This is not a "beautiful walk in the mountains" — it's a route that seriously tests your body, your mind, and your gear.

At this altitude, there's no room for unnecessary movements. Your hands are busy with the safety system, carabiners, the cable, and the rock. Any little thing — checking an anchor, finding the right section of the trail, pulling something out of your backpack, moving on in twilight — has to be done quickly and calmly.

That's why a headlamp in the mountains is a piece of gear that helps you stay in control when:
→ The route takes longer than expected
→ The weather changes
→ There's less daylight left than you counted on

Especially in the mountains, where you need light on your head or helmet, not a phone in your hand.

This man spent 8 days in the mountains of Montana, tracking black bears with his Laikas 🐻

On some days, they covered more than 15 miles on foot — that's over 24 kilometers across rugged wilderness, where cliffs, rivers, dense forest, and bears are right beside you.

In the photos, it all looks beautiful: a dog on a rock, a hunter gazing into the valley, a bear up a tree. But behind it lies a harsh reality — permits, logistics, working with the dogs, long treks, and constant situational awareness.

Under these conditions, gear gets tested every single day. In mud, in rain, on rocks, after tens of kilometers of travel.

And a flashlight here is no "just-in-case" afterthought:
→ You need it before dawn and after sunset
→ At camp, by the car, on the trail
→ When you need to quickly assess what's happening around you

Your phone is a poor substitute here — its battery dies, and your hands might be occupied with a firearm, a leash, a backpack, or trekking poles. You need a flashlight that isn't afraid of impacts, moisture, or dirt. A flashlight you can mount on your head or grab in an instant.

That's why at Armytek, we talk so much about reliability and impact resistance. In the city, those are just specs. In the mountains, in the forest, and after eight days on the trail — that's peace of mind and control.

Follow us — this is where we talk about active outdoor pursuits and gear that actually works.

🚣‍♀️ SHE PADDLED HER SUP STRAIGHT TOWARD THE ALLIGATORS

The Florida springs are a unique place, but not an amusement park. Here you can encounter not only predators but also wild monkeys, and an alligator's behavior depends on the season, temperature, and distance.

The main rule is not bravery, but preparation. On the water, the situation changes in seconds: dusk, rain, a dead phone, a lost shore... And that's when gear becomes a matter of survival.

Would you stand on a SUP board next to an alligator? Share your opinion in the comments! 👇

A bear rarely seeks out encounters with humans on purpose. Most dangerous situations start when the animal is taken by surprise, when people get too close, or when they end up near cubs.

The main rule is — don’t provoke and don’t run. In the forest, it’s important to announce your presence in advance: stick to trails, talk, avoid dense thickets, and pay close attention to tracks.

If an encounter does happen — stay calm, back away slowly, and don’t turn your back.

Save this post before your next hike. And send it to someone who loves walking in the woods.

This dog carries his own backpack — and it's not for looks 🐺

Meet Wilk, a working-line German Shepherd. Together with his owner, he's hiked 75 miles across the Isle of Skye in Scotland — through fog, rain, and rocky terrain, one of the toughest routes in the UK.

Wilk carries his own sleeping bag, most of his food, and even his trash — leaving nothing behind in the mountains.

A trained dog can carry up to 25% of its body weight, but on a trek like this, his owner kept it to a modest 10%. They worked up to that weight gradually, over months.

Here's what matters on expeditions like this:
→ Every gram and every item is chosen in advance
→ You can't 'buy more along the way' — you go with what you packed
→ Your backpack holds only what won't let you down after a week in the mountains

A flashlight is chosen by the same principle as everything else: reliability comes first.

Armytek was made for routes like this.
