Morgen startet in Hamburg das Junge Kurzfilm Festival - und „Vor meiner Tür auf einer Matte“ wird bis einschließlich Samstag viermal im Kinderprogramm „Gezeiten“ gezeigt werden 🙂 Wir freuen uns sehr! Termine und Kinos oben im Bild ⬆️

It’s been rather quiet around here lately…. And it’s going to be this way for months to come.
We’re deep into animating the next short, „The shuddersome Shush“ („Der schaurige Schusch“) after the book by Charlotte Habersack and SaBine Büchner; and this time it comes down to choreography. Well, at least section-wise.
What looks somewhat all over the place in the above image is an indicator how meticulously some things have to be approached in this field if you don’t wanna end up completely messy. So this time – after much improvisation on previous films such as PAWO or META – we rely on full-blown animation layout in the classical sense. The path is kind of like practising on the piano for hours, days and weeks… digging unceasingly, waiting for the expression to sip through. Something which goes for this medium in general, it seems.
And then, eventually, it happens. When it does, it’s always a kind of miracle, sensation and satisfaction. There’s a finalized shot… and everything looks so easy; like the most natural thing to occur. As it should!!
Up to that point it’s setting oneself in slow motion mode.

And this is a wrap for Protoplanet‘s stay at this year. For „ZAU“ we had the wonderful occasion of a world premiere, with director Tom Reimer being present in Stuttgart; „On The Mat Outside My Door“ was invited into the Tricks for Kids competition and animator Gigi Chan (who‘s show this really is!) could join in as well. All of this is amazing already! - And then there were all the beautiful encounters with so many old and new colleagues, be it at the screenings, the festival center, on the Schlossplatz grabbing food or at the hotel bar in the middle of the night - literally hours of exchange, quite often one leading to the next, seemingly without end (and in the best sense). Wow. Kudos go out to the festival for creating the space and atmosphere, for setting up an *amazing* programme (we got a fracture of it) - for pulling all of this off. There’s a big sense of thankfulness.

Das steht vor der Tür - und wir haben zweifachen Grund zur Freude: „Vor meiner Tür auf einer Matte“ läuft im Kinderwettbewerb Tricks for Kids, und „ZAU“ (Regie: Tom Reimer, Lennart Langanki; Produktion: Protoplanet Studio) wird im Rahmen des Programms German Animation seine deutsche Premiere erleben! - Tom und Lennart werden beide in Stuttgart sein, Protoplanet-seitig ist Alexander vor Ort. Eine vollgepackt-trickfilmselige Woche wartet, wir sind gespannt 😊

is just around the corner – and we have a double reason to celebrate: “On The Mat Outside My Door“ is part of the Tricks for Kids competition, and “ZAU” (directed by Tom Reimer and Lennart Langanki; produced by Protoplanet Studio) will have its German premiere as part of the German Animation program! Tom and Lennart will both be present in Stuttgart, and Alexander will be there as well representing Protoplanet. A jam-packed week of animation awaits us; we can’t wait! 😊

Das steht vor der Tür: Nicht nur finden wir es ganz wunderbar, dass wir mit „Vor meiner Tür auf einer Matte“ im Kids- und Jugendprogramme vertreten sind und unser Film über die gesamte nächste Woche hinweg dem Dresdener Publikum an verschiedenen Orten zugänglich sein wird. Zusätzlich dürfen wir am kommenden Montag und Mittwoch unter dem Dach von .dresden einen Animationsworkshop für Kinder geben! Wir freuen uns sehr auf diese Zusammenarbeit - und darauf, die Ergebnisse zum Abschluss des Filmfests am 19.4. dann öffentlich zu präsentieren!

In Ermangelung von Worten: 🥳 🥳🥳

Wir blicken zurück auf ein paar wunderbare Tage am südlichen Ende der Republik: Unser Dank geht an die .friedrichshafen und das , für die wir am vergangenen Freitag und Samstag sowohl einen Schulworkshop als auch einen öffentlichen geben durften! - Enthusiasmus und das Kribbeln in den Fingern lagen von Beginn an in der Luft, Stunden konzentrierten und im besten Sinn beseelten Arbeitens - und Ergebnisse voller Entdeckerlust und Spielfreude. Wir hätten es uns nicht besser wünschen können! Dazwischen Mittagessen bei Frühlingssonne auf der Terrasse vom , unschlagbare Aussichten auf den Bodensee mitsamt Säntis dahinter; und am Abend Filmprogramm im Festivalzentrum Kiesel im k42 - inklusive „Cat Lake City“ 😊

Bodensee, wir kommen 🙂☀️ Wir freuen uns sehr darüber, anlässlich der .friedrichshafen an diesem Wochenende zwei Animationsworkshops im geben zu dürfen! - Es wird am Freitag einen Schulworkshop geben; sowie am Samstag einen weiteren für Selbstanmelder. Happy animating!
