🔎 What does a 50 mm lens look like in real thermal footage?
Technical specifications can tell us the field of view. Real footage shows us much more.
This video was captured directly with the WEOM® thermal imaging core equipped with a 50 mm lens. With a narrower 12° × 9° field of view, distant objects occupy a larger part of the image, which can be useful when detail at longer distances matters more than covering the widest possible scene.
This can make a difference in surveillance, perimeter protection, UGVs, maritime systems or industrial monitoring.

So the key question is not only: “What resolution does the camera provide?”
It is also: “How large is the target and at what distance does it need to be detected?”
WEOM® combines 640 × 480 px resolution, 17 µm pixel pitch, an 8–14 µm LWIR spectral range and frame rates up to 60 Hz.

Because the final image is not determined by the sensor alone. The lens and optical configuration matter just as much.
