PRAGUE'S SEGWAY BAN

After years of talk, Prague’s Segway ban was approved by local officials back in May, enacted in August with an advertising campaign to inform potential riders, and signs have been going up the past two weeks to officially make the no-Segway zones crystal clear.

But if you’ve travelled through the city center recently, you’ve probably still come across unhindered riders.

That should end starting today: the last of Prague’s 610 Segway-restricting signs are going up this morning, meaning the ban can finally be enforced by local authorities, reports Pražský deník. For real.

Prague police are ready to begin issuing fines, according to police spokesperson Irena Seifertová, which can be levied up to 2000 CZK (around 80 USD) at the officer's discretion.

Self-driving cars trend has come to the Czech Republic. Black Volkswagen Golf, a self-driving prototype, has been tested earlier this week on the motorway from Rozvadov to Prague. Don’t worry, the engineer of this prototype was in the driver’s seat all the time to ensure traffic road safety.

This new technology trend becomes more and more popular, and it seems that in the near future self-driving cars will be available for everyone!

PRAGUE AMONG TOP 20 GLOBAL DESTINATIONS

Mastercard has published Global Destination Cities Index 2016 report. The winner of 2016 by International Overnight Visitors is Bangkok (21.47 mn), followed by London (19.88 mn) and Paris (18.03 mn). Prague closes out Top 20 Global Destinations with 5.81 mn.

According to the report 87% of visits to the Czech capital are for tourism purposes while 12 percent of visitors are on business. The peak months for visiting Prague is June and July.

CZECH REPUBLIC'S DEADLIEST ROADWAYS

The most dangerous road in the Czech Republic has been revealed, according to the newly released EuroRAP risk map. The I/11 between Žamberk and Jablonné nad Orlicí continuing to Červená Voda was determined to be the riskiest route in the country.

Other dangerous Czechs roads included on the map, a compilation of statistics from accidents reports in which someone was seriously injured or suffered a fatality, are the I/16 at Mladá Boleslav and I/17 at Čáslav.

SELF-DRIVING CABS IN SAN FRANCISCO

Residents of San Francisco, CA, will soon be able to experience service of the future — Uber began testing of self-driving vehicles.

A few weeks ago Uber announced self-driving cars testing in Pittsburgh, PA. It is the only U.S. city where riders can get picked up by an autonomous vehicle.

Now the company plans to take over the City by the Bay. Uber spokesperson Chelsea Kohler told USA TODAY that the vehicles, whose number remains unspecified, are "for internal use only, have a safety driver up front and are not part of our ride-sharing service in the city."

Uber recently announced a $300 million partnership with Swedish automaker Volvo to help each other develop self-driving technology. Eventually, some 100 self-driving Volvo XC90 SUVs will go into service in the Pennsylvania city.
