The Czech Republic has been hit hard by the Corona virus, but now we're looking really good.
I made a comparison of some of the most important statistics from yesterday (published today) and the situation app. 2 months ago.
Start planning your visit. Hopefully the EU Covid Certificate expected from July first will make it even easier for you to come here.

Summer is still here, and enjoying a sunny afternoon on the riverside at Náplavka in a deckchair with a castle view and a friendly barman selling cold beer right behind you isn't the worst way of spending your weekend!
You should come - there's a chair for you as well!

Prague City has placed nice chairs and tables all over the centre - usually at very nice spots. Why? To create a better atmosphere and make it enjoyable to take a walk.
Here we're at Letna, just below the metronome.
Bring your own snacks and drinks and enjoy the view!

ŽIŽKOV 1982
The photoprapher Luboš Dvořák has shared some photos which in my opinion are fantastic! He took the pictures during visits to his aunt in Prague in 1982.
Not only can you dwell on the many persons in the photos, giving us a unique insight in this period - but I also can't help but notice how worn down Žižkov (and the rest of Prague) was just 38 years ago.
If you have the time, then take some time. To slowly browse through these remarkable photos and let yourself dwell on the past of Prague - not that long ago.

JAN ŽIŽKA AND ČESKÝ KRUMLOV:
I consider all my guests on private tours as VIP guests.
But last Friday it was extra special, when I went with Tommy and Vivi on a trip to southern Bohemia. First we visited the small village of Trocnov and afterwards we went to Český Krumlov. Tommy is a 15x great-grandson in direct line to one of the best known historical figures in the Czech Republic, Jan Žižka, who was one of the leading figures in the Hussite movement and the Hussite wars that reformed the church in Bohemia in the first half of the 15th century. Should I compare Žižka with an internationally well known person, I would probably mention Lord Nelson. The huge equestrian statue on the Vitkov Hill in Prague also depicts Jan Žižka, whose nose on the statue is very similar to Tommy's. So this is really something the Czechs find exciting, and the few times I have bragged about the trip to the Czechs, they have been wildly impressed - one even suggested we should call the press!
Tommy was able to set foot on the foundation of the "family farm”, namely Žižka's birthplace, and of course also be photographed at the 13 meter high monument in the memorial park next to the farm.
Afterwards, the trip continued to the wonderful and beautiful town of Český Krumlov, which with its many beautiful buildings from especially the Renaissance period, Vltava’s beautifully winding course through the town and the huge castle area is almost magical to visit. An attraction in Český Krumlov is to go canoeing or on other small boats on the Vltava and to experience rafting at a family-friendly level.
Of course, I also offer trips to southern Bohemia for all of you who are not going on a family visit to one of the country's best known historical figures!

You should be here, too!

The travel restrictions for citizens and residents of the UK have now been lifted by the Czech Republic.
There are still restrictions in place for people residing in Sweden and Portugal.
We're still waiting for the list of countries outside of the EU, but it is already clear that the US won't be included for now.

Milada Horáková, 25/12 1901 - 27/6 1950.
Incarcerated and tortured by n***s, incarcerated and murdered by communists.
But never defeated.
May she rest in peace!

Vyšehrad is one of my favourite areas in Prague, and on a warm day like today (30° C) a cold Pilsner Urquell in the charming beer garden with beautiful views is well worth going for!
Na Zdravi!

MURDERED BY THE COMMUNISTS:
(the text on the photo)
During the last few days we have been reminded of the Czechoslovak politician Milada Horakova, who 70 years ago on this day was executed by hanging by the communist regime at the Pankrac prison in Prague 4
Prior to this Horakova and her co-accused had been put on trial. They had been given manuscripts that they had to follow so that they could confess and be sentenced exactly as planned. Milada Horakova refused to follow the script and simply spoke what she regarded to be the truth. It cost her her life. Her crimes were mainly to express ideals of freedom and openness.
During World War Two Horakova was a part of the Czech resistence movement. She was captured and sent to a concentration camp in Germany, but miraculously she survived this dictatorial regime. She did not survive the next one.
Milada Horakova has a very special place in my heart, as a selfless, brave and exemplary heroine. I often visit the place at the cemetery at Vysehrad, set up in memory of her. She is not buried there. The communists had her cremated and disposed of the remains along with the daily waste.
If you have access to Netflix, you can watch a movie about her - search for "Milada".
I highly recommend this movie!
