📱 Performance Niny Davies v Galerii Rudolfinum

Ve čtvrtek 25. června se v průběhu podvečera uskuteční tři projekce videa Hateři řeknou, že jsem skutečnej (2024) od kanadsko-britské umělkyně Niny Davies, z nichž každá se rozvine v sedmiminutovou performanci v rámci instalace Shromáždění bystanderů (2024), která je součástí výstavy DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign. Akce je součástí volného cyklu Art Sounds Galerie Rudolfinum, který přináší přímo do výstav hudební, pohybové a literární pop-up události.

Film předpokládá hypotetickou možnost znovuzískání kontroly nad vlastním obrazem: prosazení práva na vlastní podobu prostřednictvím tanečních rituálů a kódovaných pohybů, které zasazují performera do jeho reálného prostředí. V rámci choreografie se performeři proplétají instalací, která jako by společně s nimi tančila jakýsi do-si-do.

📱 Nina Davies' Performance at Galerie Rudolfinum

On Thursday, June 25, three screenings of the video Haters Will Say I’m Real (2024) by Canadian-British artist Nina Davies will take place in the early evening. Each will expand into a seven-minute performance within the accompanying installation Bystander Assembly (2024), which is part of the exhibition DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign. The event is part of Galerie Rudolfinum’s Art Sounds series, which bring musical, movement, and literary pop-up events directly to the exhibitions.

The film posits a hypothetical reclaiming of image rights: an assertion of control over one’s likeness through dance-based rituals and coded movement that situate the performer within their real environment. In the dance, performers weave through an installation of devices that appear to engage in a kind of do-si-do.

It’s hard to imagine our upcoming exhibition at Galerie Rudolfinum without the accompanying dance programme by the DanceConnected platform. Dance Well meetings are open not only to people affected by Parkinson’s disease or other movement limitations. They are an invitation to take care of yourself, enjoy movement and experience a sense of belonging here and now.

Nolasco-Rózsás je kurátorka, badatelka, autorka a pedagožka působící na pomezí umění, médií, politiky a digitálních infrastruktur. Ve své praxi propojuje teoretický výzkum s tvorbou výstav a zkoumá sociální i politické dopady výpočetní techniky a algoritmické kultury. Její výzkum se zaměřuje na posun od výstav jako formátů reprezentace k platformám pro tvorbu modelů a budování světů, přičemž klade důraz na to, jak technologické systémy utvářejí mocenské vztahy a kolektivní představivost.

Kurátorovala výstavy v institucích jako ZKM | Karlsruhe; Chronus Art Center, Šanghaj; Nam June Paik Art Center, Yongin; Ludwig Museum, Budapešť; nebo Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín. Nedávno vydala knihu Beyond Matter, Within Space (2023), přednáší a věnuje se výzkumu na University College London a na University of Art and Design Lausanne.

„Umělecké projekty vytvořené pro výstavu DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign podporují tolik potřebnou proměnu našeho chápání propleteného vztahu mezi technologií a mocí, a nabízejí spekulativní a výzkumem podložené odpovědi na naši algoritmicky zprostředkovanou realitu,“ říká Nolasco-Rózsás o chystané výstavě v Galerii Rudolfinum.

Nolasco-Rózsás is a curator, researcher, author and educator working across art, media, politics, and digital infrastructures. Her practice integrates theoretical inquiry and exhibition-making to examine the social and political implications of computation and algorithmic culture. Her research focuses on the shift from 15th exhibitions as representational formats to platforms for model-making and worldbuilding, foregrounding how technological systems shape power and collective imagination.

She has curated exhibitions at institutions including ZKM | Karlsruhe; Chronus Art Center, Shanghai; Nam June Paik Art Center, Yongin; Ludwig Museum, Budapest; or Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín. She recently edited Beyond Matter, Within Space (2023), lectures and conducts research at University College London and the University of Art and Design Lausanne.

AFO – the International Festival of Science Documentary Films, organised by Palacký University Olomouc since 1966, is today one of the leading educational events of its kind in Europe. Throughout its history, the festival has welcomed prominent figures in global science and thought, including Richard Dawkins, Hiroshi Ishiguro, and Susan Schneider.

💾As part of the accompanying programme of the project DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign, we warmly invite you to the film section Echoes of the Future. Flying cars, humanoid robots, or life on other planets - images of the future shaped by science fiction are now being confronted with the realities of contemporary technologies and global crises.

🎬The section brings together new documentary films with science-fiction works that envisioned artificial intelligence or space travel long before they became reality. What did the future look like in the past? How do we think about it today? And can we still imagine a better alternative?

Film IZOLYATSIA mapuje proměnu kulturního centra Izolyatsia v Doněcku na Ukrajině v nechvalně proslulé vězení a mučírnu a otevírá téma násilí jako nástroje kontroly.

Na projekci naváže moderovaná diskuse s Mykhailem Glubokyim, ředitelem kulturní platformy IZOLYATSIA, a Rudolfem Samohejlem, vizuálním umělcem, který se ve své tvorbě mimo jiné zabývá „obrannou architekturou“ datových center.

From Culture to Control: Art, Power, and Algorithmic Narratives | CRASH

The film IZOLYATSIA traces the transformation of the Izolyatsia cultural centre in Donetsk, Ukraine, into a notoriously infamous prison and torture site, opening up a reflection on violence as a tool of control.

The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion with Mykhailo Glubokyi, director of the cultural platform , and Rudolf Samohejl, a visual artist whose work, among other things, engages with the “defensive architecture” of data centres.
The evening will be moderated by Respekt journalist Dominika Perlínová, who, together with her guests, will explore how “soft” forms of power, digital infrastructures, and automated narratives shape fear, polarisation, and collective perception.

The event is co-produced by Goethe-Institut Czech Republic and Galerie Rudolfinum and is part of the accompanying programme of the exhibition DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign.

📱 What is DATAS?

DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign is a collaborative cultural programme that brings together a network of partners from across Europe (Galerie Rudolfinum, Projekt Atol, Goethe-Institut Prag, IZOLYATSIA., MeetFactory, Tallinna Kunstihoone) to critically examine how computation, automation, and digital infrastructures are eroding both personal and state sovereignties. Through interdisciplinary artistic exchange and collective inquiry, the programme creates space for questioning, resistance, and reimagining of these complex realities.

The project consists of several interlinked outcomes: a transnational residency involving eight artists from seven countries, expert mentorship throughout the creative process, a group Exhibition at Galerie Rudolfinum curated by Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás with many accompanying programmes, and a final publication that will document the research and artistic practices developed over the course of the project.

Česká filharmonie a Galerie Rudolfinum s podporou LUNCHMEAT STUDIO vyhlašují pokračování projektu Slyšet/Vidět. Impulsem je tentokrát vydání kompletu všech devíti symfonií Gustava Mahlera v novém nastudování pod vedením šéfdirigenta Semjona Byčkova. Česká filharmonie tento mimořádný komplet vydává podruhé – poprvé v 80. letech se šéfdirigentem Václavem Neumannem, nyní v nové interpretační perspektivě.

Zveme mladé audiovizuální umělkyně a umělce ke spolupráci na sérii autorských videí, která vstoupí do dialogu s Mahlerovou hudbou. Cílem je vytvořit ucelenou kolekci děl, jež se k sobě budou vztahovat výtvarně i rytmem.

Česká filharmonie and Galerie Rudolfinum, with the support of LUNCHMEAT STUDIO, announce the continuation of the Hearing/Seeing project. This time, the impulse is the release of a complete recording of all nine symphonies by Gustav Mahler in a new interpretation under the direction of Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov. The Czech Philharmonic is releasing this extraordinary complete set for the second time – the first was in the 1980s with Chief Conductor Václav Neumann, and now in a new interpretative perspective.

We invite emerging audiovisual artists to collaborate on a series of original videos that will enter into dialogue with Mahler’s music. The aim is to create a cohesive collection of works connected both visually and rhythmically.
