Same shape, same details, but yet so different… 3090g OEM steel fender vs 1060g full carbon fiber part for VW Golf Mk3 GTI.

Full carbon fiber hood for VW Golf Mk3 GTI, the most difficult part I did so far. Exact copy of OEM hood including inner bracing, made with 3 different types of carbon fabric and equipped with functional latch for original lock mechanism. Ended up with weight of 5.3 Kg - 65% less than OEM steel hood.

Final cooperation with on his hillclimb RX7 FD - full carbon fiber front end.
Hard work and preparation paid off and resulted in almost perfect part with zero pinholes or bridged spots. Trimming is yet to be done, however it is already obvious that balance between weight and stiffness was nailed nicely.
Now let's pray for this piece to survive at least one hillclimb season😁

Few carbon bits and pieces I made for my personal RX-7 FD project. Why use aluminium when there is carbon, right?😋

Who said carbon race parts suppose to look ugly?😉 This is full carbon fiber dash for future hillclimb racecar Mazda RX-7 FD we did together with the owner few weeks ago.
Even when this is stricly race part, I followed same principles as for any other part - perfect weave pattern, no pinholes and of course vacuum infusion process. In the end we managed to fabricate very stiff and great looking full carbon dash with final weight of 1960g!
