Eco-Ready
ECO-Ready is an EU-funded project aiming to improve food security in Europe.
ECO-READY is a project that aims to address the complex issue of food security in Europe by providing real-time data and critical insights into the factors that affect food accessibility and the economic protection of producers. It involves the development of an observatory that provides up-to-date information on climate issues for policy, citizens, and the business community through a transparent

Did you know that ECO-READY operates through a network of 10 Living Labs strategically located across 4 major European bioclimatic regions?
From the sun-drenched Mediterranean to the organic farms of the Baltic, we are testing the resilience of 36 staple food products—ranging from Italian tomatoes and Spanish olives to Danish organic buckwheat and Swedish leafy greens.
Why Living Labs? Because food security isn't "one-size-fits-all." What works for a drought-prone farm in Italy (AIDEMEC) or Greece (THALLA) might not apply to a vertical farm in Sweden (SECO Collab).
Our Living Labs act as "seeds of change," testing 50 unique future scenarios to ensure our policies are grounded in real-world regional practices. This bottom-up approach allows us to:
✅ Map local vulnerabilities to climate shocks and biodiversity loss.
✅ Co-create regional contingency plans.
✅ Bridge the gap between scientific modelling and the daily reality of farmers and consumers.
We aren't just observing the continent; we are building a continental-scale safety net for European food security. 🛡️🥘

Contingency planning for food security is no longer a theoretical exercise—it is a survival necessity. But how do we move from "theoretical frameworks" to "practical action"? At ECO-READY, we are answering that question with the launch of the Digital Observatory.
As food systems face unprecedented climate-driven pressures, the Observatory can serve as Europe’s central information source on resilience. Accessible via a dedicated e-platform and mobile app, this system provides the infrastructure needed for robust contingency planning.
The Observatory delivers:
✅ Real-time food system assessments to pinpoint vulnerabilities before they become crises.
✅ Frequent updates on climate-driven food insecurity and biodiversity risks.
✅ Evidence-based insights synthesised from our network of 10 Living Labs across all European macro-regions.
We are closing the gap between scientific modelling and real-world implementation. By providing frequent, data-backed updates, the Observatory empowers policymakers and industry leaders to move beyond reactive measures and toward proactive resilience.

ECO-READY will be at the EU Green Week!
ECO-READY will be featured at this year's EU Green Week. Our lead policy partner, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), will showcase the project at an online event titled “Investing in Nature Through Farming”, which is taking place on 17 June.
This event will focus on using scenarios and models for policymaking in the context of the Common Agricultural Policy reform. Results from ECO-READY and the LAMASUS projects will be presented, and a policy discussion will be held with the European Commission’s DG AGRI.
Registration is open, join us to explore the policy pathways for the future CAP and contribute to the discussion!

We are pleased to share that Dr. Gerhard Schiefer, from ECO-READY partner ProQuantis, will be presenting at the IFAMA 2026 World Conference in Ireland.
In his presentation, “Facilitating futures thinking in times of change: The ECO-Ready project approach,” he will explore how the ECO-READY project contributes to addressing complex and evolving challenges in food systems. With increasing uncertainty driven by climate change, biodiversity loss, and shifting socio-economic conditions, there is a growing need for approaches that support forward-looking decision-making.
The ECO-READY project takes a systems perspective, combining data integration, scenario development, and stakeholder engagement to better understand risks and support more resilient food systems.
The IFAMA World Conference brings together researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across the globe, providing a platform to exchange ideas on the future of agri-food systems.

🌱 Przyszłość rolnictwa Mazur – odporność, bioróżnorodność, bezpieczeństwo
Jak budować rolnictwo odporne na zmiany klimatu? Jaką rolę odgrywają woda, gleba i bioróżnorodność?
🔹 bioróżnorodność to nie koszt – to fundament stabilnej produkcji
🔹 skuteczna adaptacja wymaga współpracy: rolnicy + nauka + instytucje publiczne
🔹 przyszłość to testowanie rozwiązań w praktyce – m.in. w gospodarstwach demonstracyjnych
W konferencji wzięło udział ponad 60 przedstawicieli sektora rolniczego, nauki i administracji, co potwierdza rosnącą potrzebę dialogu i wspólnego działania.
