Greetings to all of you. I am once again bringing an update on my health status, considering the previous posts and logical changes in the plans for Zmyrna, Monastyr Records, and my other activities within the scene.

Right at the start, I want to write that on September 18th, we are organizing a concert in Prague. It involves dungeon synth projects. I see your attendance or help with promotion as a huge support. Thank you in advance! I still do not know if I will attend the concert myself, as it depends on the treatment and my current condition. I believe I will be able to come.

My diagnosis: adenoid cystic carcinoma of the sublingual gland – stage IV with lymph node involvement and the presence of distant metastases (generalization to the skeleton and liver).

I completed radiotherapy 13 times. My tumor on the neck and under the tongue has shrunk, but the body is still processing the treatment, and it is too early to evaluate. However, the blood and CT results were overall fine.

In the period after radiotherapy, I went through immense pain in my mouth, which was completely burned. I barely ate for almost ten days. If I did, it was truly through tears and full of despair. I lost my facial hair, so my appearance changed as well. It will probably stay this way now. I lost my sense of taste. My perception of taste is minimal so far. It sucks when you cannot even enjoy your favorite food. But luckily, I can eat. The radiotherapy also partially worsened my teeth. I lost weight.

They surgically placed a port into my chest to protect my veins.

I started chemotherapy. Due to my good physical condition, they made it even more intense, which might help stop the metastases in my bones and liver. According to the last CT, those have not grown. However, I have a new decalcified spot that causes me pain. Therefore, they are considering a targeted short course of radiotherapy.

For chemotherapy, I receive cisplatin intravenously. Along with that, Vinorelbine -orally. I also get injections to strengthen my bones. On top of that, a heap of pills against vomiting, for the stomach, etc., etc. Strong painkillers. Just looking at that pile makes me nauseous, haha.
I handled the first chemotherapy well, without vomiting, and I was active for three days. Then the side effects, like fatigue and body aches, started. After the second chemotherapy in pills and the second bone injection, I had extreme diarrhea like never before. The worst thing I have registered so far. My hair has not fallen out yet.

Today is the third day I am active without pain and fatigue. It is not completely one hundred percent, but it is good. I am in a good mental mood, I am positive, and I believe all of this will help me. I do not have depression or anxiety. Those close to me say I look good and even younger, haha.

I spend a lot of time at the hospital, where I commute. Or at home in bed if I am tired.

If I feel well, I take care of band matters, the label, graphics, orders. I meet with bandmates, both current and former. I take advantage of every possible free moment.
Last time, we went shopping together. We needed new effects pedals for the upcoming recording. I want to experiment with the sound and create new material. Currently, we have a working demo for our second project, Temrava.

We are also preparing a compilation CD (Urtod) and a cassette (Monastyr) with exclusive tracks from bands that agreed to participate in this benefit project. Look forward to great names among the participants!

We are preparing a live 4-way split cassette (Monastyr) with Ebony Pendant, Drengskapur, Draugveil, and Zmyrna, featuring a selection of tracks from the Prague concert.

The full-length Zmyrna album is finally coming out on LP/CD (Antiq) and cassette (Monastyr).

The pre-order is running for the Sainte-Vehme CD, a conceptual compilation featuring Prieuré, Arkaist, La Chambre Ardente, Wyrms, Zmyrna, and Morte France. Digipack (Antiq) and a cassette is planned (Monastyr).

It fulfills me greatly and gives me hope and energy. Even though I still do not know how my treatment will turn out. I try to function as if I were healthy, but I am not living in self-delusion.

I want to thank all of you whom I am in touch with, everyone who writes to me, or supports me with financial contributions, with respect and humility. Without you, I might just be sitting at home in this gray period, looking out the window, with no will to fight. You are a huge support to me and my weapon against cancer.
In many ways, knowing that my time is uncertain, I have changed my view on interpersonal relationships, friendships, and the strength of the BM community. I perceive everything from a different perspective.

UPDATE: A symbolic vinyl by At the Gates. And specifically this album. Tomas Lindberg had the same diagnosis as me: ACC (adenoid cystic carcinoma). My chemotherapy starts on Wednesday. You can’t even imagine how much I wish for the ‘treatment’ to be successful. That word is in quotes because it cannot be cured. It’s about stopping it, keeping it under control, or at least slowing it down. I’m full of expectations, but the fact that I’m scared too. That’s just how it is. I know it will be tough. So far, I’ve gone through an awful lot of accurate medical examinations and one minor surgery specifically for the chemotherapy. I’ve been scanned I don’t even know how many times. I’ve changed a huge number of things within myself. I’ve changed my perspective on certain people; some I’ve cut out, and towards others, I’ve found my way. I realized that the metal community can be a true pillar of support in such a difficult moment. I’ve realized that strangers can be closer to you than family (with a few exceptions). You simply see the world from different perspectives. A hundred things become completely irrelevant to you, and you find joy in the little things. Well, here’s to Wednesday!
