Leaving the still functioning Italianate Synagogue and just across the street is the museum- in what was the Ashkenazi Synagogue. The community was so compressed there were multiple synagogues within steps of each other. The museum houses the treasures left behind-beautifully illuminated Torah and Esther scrolls, and pictures of the destruction in 1943. 🙃
