TOP 10 PHOTO SPOTS IN PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC
📷♥️
Prague is probably one of Europe’s most beautiful and enchanting cities. The capital city of the Czech Republic is full of medieval buildings, remarkable churches, and almost countless bridges crossing the Vltava river.
Moreover, with its cobbled streets and historic facades, it’s definitely a highly photogenic city and you can take amazing shots from many different angles.
1. Along the Vltava River✨
Well, I guess it’s almost impossible to not find a great photo spot while walking along the Vltava river that runs through Prague. It’s pretty easy to get a nice shot from almost every side of the river as there’s a large number of lovely buildings and sights directly located next to it.
2. Charles Bridge 🌉
Is it even imaginable to travel to Prague and not take a photo of its most famous bridge?
Of course not!
The architectural masterpiece was created in the 15th century and is more than 600 meters long. Connecting Prague Castle and the city’s Old Town area, it’s the main tourist route and always packed with people.
Therefore it’s strongly recommended to go there early in the morning to avoid all the crowds and have enough time to enjoy all the great photo opportunities.
3. John Lennon Wall 🎨
Another awesome photography spot you shouldn’t miss in Prague is the John Lennon Wall. Filled with the most colorful John-Lennon-inspired graffiti, this wall segment is a real eyecatcher.
Besides paintings, there are also quite a few pieces of lyrics from different Beatles’ songs on it. Located in an area not far from Charles Bridge, it’s easily reachable and therefore a must on everyone’s photo list!
4. Old Town Square 🏰
Old Town Square, ranking in the fourth place of my top 10 photo spots in Prague, is the most central place in the city and located between Wenceslas square (a great shopping area) and Charles Bridge.
Moreover, if you go there around Christmas time or for New Year’s Eve, you’ll be amazed by some of the best Christmas Markets in Europe and a wonderfully decorated Christmas tree right in the middle of the square. Read about this in our next post 😉🥰

Where to Find the Best Views of Prague
Havlickovy Gardens
Havlickovy Sady, Prague’s second-largest park, is home to a neo-renaissance villa that happens to feature one of the best views of the city. Complete with a charming gazebo, sweeping vineyards, and the Grébovka Pavilion garden café, the villa and its surrounding area are noted as Prague’s best piece of Italian Renaissance. Enjoy the view, and a glass of wine while you’re at it. Havlickovy Gardens is just a five-minute walk from the Jana Masaryka tram stop.
Kotva Department Store
This notably drab-looking department store, located across from the Palladium mall at Náměstí Republiky, is actually known for its surprisingly striking view of Old Town. Instead of entering through the building’s main entrance, walk along the left edge of the store until you reach an elevator. Head up to the fifth floor, grab a beer, and enjoy!
Letná Park
This park is filled with plenty of attractions, but the top of the Prague Metronome offers a particularly fantastic view of Prague’s bridges and ever-popular Letná Beer Garden. If you’re still looking for another glimpse of the Vltava riverhead, head to the park’s Hanavsky Pavilion. Located just a few minutes from Prague Castle, Letná Park is a favorite among locals and travels alike.
Náplavka Riverbank
Hailed as Prague’s “hippest hangout,” Naplavka is a stretch of pavement next to the banks of the Vltava River between Palacký Bridge and the Vytoň tram stop. Bordered by boats and hole-in-the-wall restaurants, this boardwalk-style area offers a gorgeous sunset view of Prague Castle in the evenings. Once darkness settles over the city, you’ll be able to watch the riverbank come alive before your eyes!
Old Town Bridge (Charles Bridge) Tower
This stunning view of Prague is often missed because the entrance to the gothic monument is relatively hidden. That said, if you climb the 138 steps to the top of the tower, you’ll find one of the best views of Charles Bridge, the Vltava River, Prague Castle, Old Town, and the far side of the city. Trust us — it’s worth it! And since it’s somewhat hidden, the tower is hardly ever crowded.

3 reasons to convince you that Prague is the best city to study in 📍
1. It is absolutely beautiful 😍
There is a distinct European charm in Prague that is evident from the cobblestone streets and the buildings, which are dotted with flowers on window sills. Every building seems to carry a story and an old history that transports you back in time. And you can’t miss out on walking down the Vltava River with the Prague Castle proudly standing on a hill.
2. The history is well preserved and, in turn, it is very rich 🏰
During the World Wars, Prague was more fortunate than some other European cities and was not bombed nearly as much. This means many of the buildings are original to the time periods they were built in (which for some was literally centuries ago). Prague’s history was also dark and heavy at times due to the influence of communism. If you’re lucky enough to talk to those of the older generations who lived through that time, you will be enriched by hearing about the Prague of the past, and the Prague of post-communism. It is an amazing opportunity to learn about how this affected other European countries and the world.
3. It is cheaper than other Central European cities 💶
One US dollar is usually within the range of 20-25 Kc (Czech Crowns). You can eat a decent meal for anywhere from 100-200 Kc depending on where you go, which is about $4.50 – $9.00 USD. If you really plan and budget with your meals and grocery shopping, you can eat well for cheap. Additionally, handmade items found at markets, and even souvenirs, won’t break your bank. Admission to lots of museums, churches, events, etc. are included in the AIFS program fees and with your class field trips. If there’s something additional you would like to do, it is usually no more than $5.00 – $15.00 USD with your student discount.

Ahoj! Let’s relax a little and go to the best cafes in Prague for the most hit people 😉
Here’s our TOP 3:
Mistral Cafe
Mistral Cafe is like a bit of California in Prague. With giant windows that open up to the street, an minimalist vibe, and plants everywhere, Mistral Cafe is trendy in every way. The decor is industrial, with a hint of exposed concrete in the walls, white wire chairs, and concrete floors, but the plants liven up the space and make it feel a lot warmer. Of course, all of this decor means nothing if the food isn’t good, but rest assured, the food was some of the best that I had in all of Prague.
Café Chloé
If you’ve ever heard of El&n Cafe in London, Café Chloé has the exact same vibe. With all pink everything, trendy photo opps around every corner, and extremely photogenic food, Café Chloé is the perfect spot for any instagrammer or girly girl with a penchant for pink.
Cathedral Cafe
Cathedral Cafe is mere minutes away from Old Town Square, yet is kind of hard to find. Tucked away in a corner with a tiny entrance, you probably wouldn’t expect much if you passed by it on the street. However, venture deeper into the restaurant and it opens up to a bright and airy courtyard space.
