Katharine, Duchess of Kent was a beautiful person and huge supporter of music and young people. She was so kind to me in this moment at BBC Young Musician in 2002. She gave me the biggest hug and kept asking if I was ok! I can still hear her saying ‘lean on my arm’ as she led me back to my seat ❤️I will always remember that.

Loved teaching at Voksenåsen Summer Academy! ☀️

Stunning setting for a music course (this place is Norway’s gift to Sweden). I heard some incredible young violinsts and we worked on Walton, Glazunov, Sibelius, Ysaÿe, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, Barber, Korngold etc..!

A definite highlight was collecting wild blueberries in the breaks 🥰

Great fun to perform with the brillant Jâms Coleman at the Petworth festival. First recital back after fracturing my wrist on station steps last year! Glad to have made it to the legendary bakery too 😋

Sir Roger Norrington, such a wonderful character and a huge loss to the music world.

Many special memories and I will never forget this Mozart 5. In rehearsal he was passionate about how he wanted the details yet balanced this intensity with great warmth and humour. I made sure to be prepared for many good-natured discussions! He made me laugh a lot too, pausing in rehearsal to tell a funny anectode and it was evident he was deeply loved by all in the orchestra. I will treasure these moments and I’m so grateful for his guidance over the years. He leaves an incredible legacy.
