ANNOUNCEMENT

I’ve been an outspoken critic of what’s wrong with modern music business and especially the streaming services, with extra emphasis on Spotify, being a ruthless violator of every moral principle I believe in.
As a protest to this, a few years ago I deleted all of my music from the retailers and left it only available on my website and my Bandcamp profile.

Now, after some time has passed, I see the ramifications of this act and unfortunately, these are harming me in a substantial way because in the end, having your music on these platforms is not just about revenue but also about exposure and discovery. The majority of listeners are very reluctant to move away from Spotify despite all the evidence of the harm it does to artists and as a result, rejecting such platforms also rejects a huge pool of potential new listeners. And since I am a too small and insignificant artist to afford losing such big share of audience while trying to stand up to my moral beliefs, I find myself in a very difficult situation.

You all (perhaps) know how my life is going on in the last years but in case you don’t follow, I will do a quick summary so you know the perspective from which I am writing this post:

I have 3 incurable chronic illnesses - Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, ME/CFS, and MCAS. They get worse with age and have gradually led me to being mostly homebound and unable to perform live anymore. I have no family and live alone. Last year I was forced out of my apartment and the entire living situation in the Czech Republic along with my health state forced me to go on a 9-month nomadic, living out-of-a-suitcase journey across Europe until I find a safe and suitable place for me and that’s how I ended in Bari, Italy, where I have just settled. And now, my health suffers the consequences of this odyssey.

Given this perspective, I think it is quite clear, that I don’t come from the privileged background many successful artists do, and as such, my ability to keep demonstrating a moral position is vastly diminished purely by financial and social status. This can serve as a good illustration of how much “money can’t buy happiness” is true and who has the freedom to do what.

Since I highly value honesty, I write this post to admit that my life situation doesn’t allow me to keep up with this protest anymore so I have reuploaded all my 15 releases on all the platforms again.
Due to my inability to compete with trendy content and satisfy algorithms, my only way to reach more people is the word of mouth, so I would highly appreciate it if you share my music with everyone you think might like it.

Australia’s ARIA charts have changed their rules so tracks made mostly or entirely by generative AI will no longer qualify.

AI-assisted music can still chart if the song is substantially human-made, with humans handling the main writing, vocals, and instrumentation.

The move followed controversy around an AI-assisted cover of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” which became one of the most-played songs on Australian radio.

ARIA can also remove ineligible songs, change chart positions, and withdraw chart awards under the new rules.
