How Study Abroad Sets You Apart in the Job Market!

My thanks to Brian Brubaker, Assistant Vice Provost of Global Learning at for bringing this to my attention:

The Forum on Education Abroad is excited to share a new report, The Talent Advantage: What Study Abroad Alumni Can Do Differently in the Workplace, which explores the real, everyday transformation students experience while participating in education abroad experiences.

Read the report: https://lnkd.in/gun6Hxuh
More about the study: https://lnkd.in/grj6CPpv

Through analysis of student blog posts, the report reveals that growth happens in small, powerful moments—stretching beyond comfort zones, building relationships, and persisting through challenges.

These experiences build the competencies employers value most: curiosity, connection, and resilience.

The study was conducted by Skiilify as part of Education Abroad: The Career Catalyst, a field-wide campaign to showcase the career-defining impact of education abroad—how it equips students with real-world skills, professional agility, and a broader perspective that sets them apart in the workforce. CzechMates is pleased to continue to support Dum Pro Julii (https://www.dumprojulii.com/ ), the Czech Republic’s first Children’s Hospice Facility offering a spectrum of tailored services and care for seriously ill children and their families. Jillian Cummins, a CzechMates student alumnus, interned with the organization in the Fall of 2023, assisting their endeavors through public outreach and strategic communications activities. As the first recipient of the CzechMates Edward and June Elavsky Memorial Scholarship for First Generation university students, Jill asked that a portion of her scholarship be donated to her internship site and CzechMates has matched that donation, so as to further support the important mission of this essential organization.

"I choose the Czechmates program because I wanted a more genuine study abroad experience. I wanted to go somewhere different then the usual big cities and meet students from all over the world. Brno is in a great location for travel and having an international internship is a once in a lifetime opportunity."

“Interning with Žabiny has given me great tools and knowledge of how Public Relations functions in the sports industry. The internship has reassured my passion for sports and that this is an industry I could see myself having a successful career in. I look forward to continuing to develop my skill set with Žabiny this semester.”
