Meet Victoria-Emma — the first Divemaster of 2026 at Dive Cypria 💙

She has completed her Divemaster internship with relentless positivity despite weather cancellations, roadworks blocking access to the dive center, and me making her record dive briefings almost daily 😅

Victoria started diving as a wheelchair user and has since built an incredible list of certifications including Sidemount, Self-Reliant and Tech courses alongside the core recreational training. She’s also an aspiring Marine Biology student and somehow managed to fit regular swimming training into all of this while preparing for her Open Water Swim from the UK to France.

And apparently, I still haven’t scared her away with the sheer amount of dive briefings and standards discussions… because now she’s getting ready for endless knowledge reviews and lesson plans for her PADI Assistant Instructor Course 😄

Despite both of us being sleep deprived and physically exhausted lately, you can see the pride in this photo.

Watching her grow into the role of a Divemaster day by day — shadowing me underwater, assessing conditions, practicing skill demonstrations, helping around the dive center, learning how to lead while staying calm and observant — has honestly made me incredibly proud.

Victoria is challenging a lot of stereotypes about what a Divemaster “should” look like, and this industry genuinely needs more people like her. 🌊

At Dive Cypria, we believe scuba diving should be accessible, comfortable and sustainable for families — especially for young divers who are still growing.

Children can outgrow scuba equipment surprisingly quickly, and many families face the challenge of balancing proper equipment fit, safety and long-term cost.

That is why we created the Growing Divers Program.

The program is designed to support young divers through eligible junior scuba gear trade-up options, certified pre-loved equipment opportunities and properly fitting youth scuba equipment guidance.

Our goal is simple:
help children continue diving safely and confidently while reducing unnecessary waste and replacement pressure for families.

As part of this initiative, we proudly work with SEAC junior scuba equipment alongside other trusted scuba brands to help young divers feel comfortable and supported underwater.

The Growing Divers Program reflects something important to us at Dive Cypria:
scuba diving should not feel exclusive, disposable or intimidating. It should be something families can grow into together over time.

2025 was a year of growth:; personally and professionally.
We dived through all 12 months, explored different coastlines, welcomed first-time divers, supported professional development, and worked on every front that matters. One of the year’s quiet highlights was hosting an underwater proposal; a reminder of why we love what we do. 💙

Winter here is not “off-season” underwater: it’s a completely different world of visibility, quiet dive sites, relaxed conditions, and marine life encounters that many divers never get to experience.

By sharing our perspective, I want to help shift the narrative from “Cyprus is only for summer diving” to:
“Cyprus is a year-round diving destination with so much more to offer.”
