Σε κοινή έρευνα, οι Greenpeace Germany και Greenpeace Africa συγκέντρωσαν περίπου 19.000 είδη ρουχισμού μέσα σε μία εβδομάδα, που διαφορετικά θα είχαν καταλήξει στα σκουπίδια.

Αφού συλλέχθηκαν, αξιολογήθηκαν και διαπιστώθηκε ότι το 96% αυτών ήταν φτιαγμένα από συνθετικές ίνες. Σαν να λέμε... πλαστικό. Πλαστικό που καταλήγει στα σκουπίδια, κυρίως σε χώρες όπως η Γκάνα, που πλήττονται ήδη από την πλαστική ρύπανση.
