5 HABITS THAT WILL INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING PROMOTED ONBOARD 💪🏻😎

1. BE EARLY, NOT JUST ON TIME ⏰
- Arriving 15 minutes (much better 20) before your watch or station shows discipline. Use that time to check your equipment, inspect your area, and mentally prepare.
When the Chief sees you already working while others are still logging in, he remembers your name for the right reasons.

Remember:
- Leaders promote people they don't have to babysit.

2. OWN YOUR JOB + VOLUNTEER FOR THE TOUGH ONES ✅
- Finish your assigned work, then look for more. "Sir, what else can I do?" is a powerful sentence.
Be the guy who volunteers for bilge cleaning, tank washing, overtime during port, or helping the deck during cargo ops.

Remember:
Promotions don't go to the busiest person. They go to the most useful person.
Problem-solvers get noticed. Clock-watchers get replaced.

3. PAPERWORK IS KING 📝👑
- In shipping, if it's NOT WRITTEN down, it didn't happen. Keep your logbooks clean, checklists complete, and reports submitted on time with zero mistakes.
Zero deficiencies during PSC or Vetting inspections? That's 100% because of the crew's paperwork. And the officer in charge gets the credit.

Remember:
Good paperwork protects the ship. Great paperwork gets you promoted.

4. ATTITUDE BEATS SKILL 🤷🏻✨
- You can be the best AB or OS, but if you have a bad attitude, no one will want you as a Bosun.
No gossip. No complaining. Respect everyone from the Cook to the Captain. Stay calm during emergencies and be a team player even on day 120 of the contract.

Remember:Technical skills get you hired. Character gets you promoted.

5. KEEP LEARNING & PREPARE FOR THE NEXT RANK (MOST CRUCIAL) 💪🏻🤍
- Don't wait to be promoted before you start studying. If you're an AB, start studying for Bosun. If you're 3rd Mate, start on 2nd Mate.
Ask questions. Observe the senior officers. Get sea service testimonials. Take training courses while you still have time.

Remember:
You don't get promoted to the job you have. You get promoted to the job you're already preparing for.
