Stap dichterbij voor wet gezamenlijk ouderlijk gezag bij erkenning WILLEMSTAD – De Raad van Advies heeft geen inhoudelijke bezwaren tegen een initiatiefwet die het Burgerlijk Wetboek van Curaçao moet wijzigen zodat ouders automatisch gezamenlijk gezag krijgen wanneer een vader zijn kind erkent. Daarmee kan het voorstel nu verder worden behandeld in de Staten.

Kaminata Yu i Tata 2025 Unites Curaçao in a Powerful Celebration of Fatherhood ‘Vibrant Crowd Participates in a Safe, Joyful, and Inspiring Walk’

Yesterday, Sunday November 16th, 2025, Curaçao proudly celebrated another meaningful and successful edition of Kaminata Yu i Tata (KYT25), organized by Child First Foundation. The annual walk drew a vibrant crowd of participants, all committed to raising awareness about the importance of fathers and father figures in the lives of children.

This year’s event was opened by Christian Peterson, President of Child First Foundation, who officially gave the start signal around 6:00 a.m. in the parking area of the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB).

Before stepping up, participants energized themselves with a lively Zumba workout led by Demi Meertens, creating an atmosphere full of joy and unity.

The route took walkers across the five iconic bridges of Willemstad, a symbolic reminder of the bridges that connect children and their fathers. Along the way, local artist Jean Girigori contributed turning the Emmabridge into a colorful showcase of creativity and culture.

Child First Foundation’s mission is to promote the active, positive, and present role of fathers in their children’s lives. Research consistently shows that children with committed father figures are more likely to grow into resilient, self-aware, and successful world citizens. The remarkable turnout—fathers, mothers, caregivers, families, and supporters—made that message shine clearly and powerfully.

A Safe and Heartwarming Event
All participants arrived safely and happily at the finish line. This achievement was made possible thanks to the outstanding dedication of volunteers from the VKC, Brigada di Siguridat i Formashon, Curaçao Red Cross and Banko di Boluntario and Padvinderij God’s Soldier’s, who ensured smooth guidance, hydration, safety, and encouragement throughout the walk. The foundation expresses profound gratitude for their work.

In a touching gesture of community care, one volunteer prepared a delicious pot of soup at the end of the walk, offering warmth and nourishment to participants as they celebrated the successful completion of the journey.

All proceeds from KYT25 will directly support Child First Foundation’s programs, which empower children and promote their fundamental right to a loving and actively involved father. Especially important when parents live in separate households. These funds help the foundation continue building a more aware, compassionate, and supportive society.
