โก What is shaping electricity prices in the region?
๐๏ธ In todayโs RTS Morning Programme, our , Milos Mladenovic, was a guest of Ruzica Vranjkovic, sharing his insights into the latest developments and challenges shaping the regional electricity market.
๐ก๏ธ High temperatures and strong demand continue to put upward pressure on electricity prices, although the situation is gradually improving in terms of hydrological conditions and nuclear generation.
๐ง Drought and low water levels have directly affected hydropower generation, while the region has also experienced an indirect impact through reduced generation and temporary shutdowns of nuclear capacity, particularly at Paks in Hungary and Cernavodฤ in Romania.
โข๏ธ The restart of nuclear reactors in Hungary is certainly good news, as the return of this generation capacity will contribute to easing pressure on the regional electricity market.
โ๏ธ During this period of increased market pressure, thermal generation played an important role in maintaining Serbiaโs domestic electricity supply. At the same time, Bulgaria, supported by generation from the Kozloduy NPP, together with Greece, was among the sources contributing to the regionโs electricity supply.
