Your first ever inductee into the MMA Cymru Hall of Fame - Chris Rees.

Chris Rees was Wales’ first ever Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and later served as a national coach with UKMMAF, coaching team UK at both the World Championships in Bahrain and the European Championships in Romania.

In 2018, Chris founded MMA Cymru and went on to serve for five years as its first President, helping build the foundation for amateur MMA in Wales.

Without Chris Rees, MMA Cymru would not exist today, which is why he becomes the first ever inductee into the MMA Cymru Hall of Fame.

Llongyfarchiadau, Chris.

MMA Cymru’s adult fighter of the year is Mr Ellis Clement.

Ellis made his MMA Cymru debut in 2019 at the inaugural Youth Championships in Rome as a young teen. He returned as a junior to the European Championships in Venice in 2022 and then in 2025 as a senior athlete at the World Championships in Georgia. He is the first and so far only athlete to represent Wales at all three age brackets.

His best performance came last year at the worlds when he dominated his opponents from Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan. Ellis was forced to withdraw after getting injured, but we believe he would have gone all the way to the top. Domestically he had a great year, picking up the Budo and SFC titles.

Ellis now turns his attention to the professional ranks after a glittering amateur career where he took on all comers.

Congratulations Ellis Clement, your MMA Cymru adult fighter of the year.
