LEGO Sagrada Familia - great 😎

LEGO has unveiled its biggest building set to date: the LEGO Architecture Sagrada Família, comprising 12,060 pieces. The set follows the actual construction sequence of Antoni Gaudí’s unfinished Barcelona basilica — builders start with the foundational Apse and Crypt, progress through the Nativity and Passion façades, the grand naves, the Western Sacristy, and six towers, before completing the model with the Eastern Sacristy and Glory façade. The finished display model includes a stained-glass window effect designed to echo how light moves through the real basilica. The set joins LEGO’s Architecture portfolio and is compatible with the LEGO Builder app, which provides 3D instructions and progress tracking — a useful feature for a build of this scale. The Sagrada Família set launches November 1, with preorders available now at LEGO website.

In September 2017, a fishing town in Iceland's Westfjords transformed a standard zebra crossing into a striking 3D illusion. Inspired by a similar project in New Delhi, local officials aimed to use visual depth to make drivers instinctively hesitate and slow down before reaching pedestrians.

The project highlights a unique approach to traffic calming that prioritizes human perception over physical barriers. By using clever paint techniques to fool the eye, the crossing forces a moment of heightened awareness, compelling motorists to engage more actively with their surroundings.

While research suggests the impact of 3D crossings may diminish once drivers become accustomed to the trick, the initial value remains clear. This creative intervention proves that sometimes the best way to secure a driver's attention is through a well-placed, temporary shift in perspective.

The Dutch Master of Timeless Logos: How Ben Bos Made Simplicity Iconic.

Ben Bos (27 August 1930 - 3 January 2017), a Dutch graphic design icon and AGI member since 1978, is renowned for his minimalist, timeless logos. Trained at Amsterdam’s Graphic College and Rietveld Academy (1956–1961), he joined Total Design in 1963, serving as creative director (1965–1991). His 1970 Randstad logo, an orange square split by a white parallelogram resembling an open hand, embodies accessibility and has endured for over 50 years.

Kluwer (now Wolters Kluwer), his 1970s logo used clean, geometric typography and a stylized “K” to convey clarity and professionalism for the publishing giant. Other notable designs include the 1974 De Nationale Investeringsbank’s interlocking diamond, the 1975 Gemeente Dronten’s modular blocks symbolizing urban growth, and the 1989 European Combined Terminals’ dynamic arrows for logistics. Bos’s philosophy, detailed in Design of a Lifetime (2000), emphasizes functional simplicity, earning him the 1998 World Logotype Award.
