A Sweet Slice of Swiss History 🍫🇨🇭

Cherishing Swiss tradition on December 12th —the Marmite de l’Escalade. This custom dates back to 1602 when the city of Geneva defended itself against a surprise attack. Legend has it that a heroic Genevan woman, “La Mère Royaume,” famously stopped an intruder by throwing a marmite (cooking pot) on him, inspiring this centuries-old celebration.
