Okay so confession time.

We’ve been Jessie Schofer fans for... a while now. (Is it weird to admit we’ve been low-key following someone’s HR Tech takes? It feels slightly weird.)

But here’s the thing: Jessie works with HR Tech startups. The actual builders. The founders trying to figure out what HR teams actually need vs what sounds good in a pitch deck.

And now Stakkd is officially partnering with Fusion. 🎉✨
May 20-21. 44 startups (some might be hers, who knows). Lots of HR advisors with opinions on how to make HR tech better.

It’s not always easy bridging the gap between builders and users, especially when everyone’s tired and the world is heavy. It’s usually hard, in fact. But Jessie said yes anyway, and we are genuinely thrilled about it!

Big props to Stakkd for believing in this experiment. Let’s make HR Tech less terrible together.

That’s exactly the role of the Fusion Advisory Board, and today, we highlight our first group of amazing humans joining us as Fusion advisors!

Fusion advisors are an invite-only group of senior people leaders from around the world who bring deep experience in selecting, evaluating, and using HR technology at scale.

Their job is simple: help bridge the gap between HR tech builders and the people who ultimately use these tools.

Sometimes you meet someone in this space and the conversation just… clicks.

That was our experience with Valerie Capers Workman.

Valerie was a special guest at HR Week 2025, where she spoke alongside Kyle Forrest from Deloitte, and they shared real stories on how to run AI-powered organizations.

Earlier in her career, she helped scale Tesla during a period of extraordinary growth, and today she leads HR at Empower Pharmacy, a mission-driven organisation focused on responsible innovation.

From the very first conversations, it was clear that Valerie approaches these questions with curiosity and depth. She is one of those people whose thinking leads to actual discussions rather than polished answers.

Fusion sits exactly at that intersection. It brings together senior HR leaders like Valerie and the founders building the next generation of HR tech startups for honest dialogue and opportunities to co-design better HR tech for all.
