Today we introduce the newest member of the OTB community. Please join us to celebrate profe Patrick!
Patrick holds a degree in Social Science with a major in Social and Public Policy from the University of Queensland, and a TESOL Certificate. He was an English teacher at Greenwich College and worked at Nundah State Primary School, both in Brisbane, Australia. Patrick is passionate about helping people and finds fulfilling providing people with the skills they need to be successful. Since becoming a part of OTB, Patrick has truly distinguished himself within our community through his unwavering dedication to service and infectious enthusiasm.

Patrick tiene un título en Ciencias Sociales con especialización en Políticas Públicas y Sociales de la Universidad de Queensland y un Certificado TESOL. Fue profesor de inglés en Greenwich College y trabajó en la escuela primaria estatal de Nundah, ambas en Brisbane, Australia. A Patrick le apasiona ayudar a las personas y le resulta gratificante brindarles las habilidades que necesitan para tener éxito. Desde que se unió a Outside the Box, Patrick se ha destacado en nuestra comunidad por su corazón de servicio y entusiasmo.

Conozca a Ms Eli
Ms. Eli estudió Educación Especial en la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. Tiene amplio conocimiento en temas como Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos y Disciplina Positiva, además de gran experiencia en ambientes de inclusión educativa y social.
Ms. Eli se unió al equipo de OTB en agosto del 2022 como Líder de Comunidad y Cultura donde se destacó por crear lazos fuertes entre y la comunidad de Brasilito además de impulsar iniciativas de acción social como nuestro primer Trunk or Treat, arrancó las limpiezas de playa y el proyecto de sostenibilidad de Dona Tapa. Como una orgullosa nicoyana, Ms. Eli siempre nos mantiene conectadas con el inagotable espíritu de la guanacastequidad.
Sin embargo, en el corazón de Ms. Eli hay un lugar muy especial para la primer infancia, por lo que tomó el reto de extender el programa de a preescolar. Este año Ms. Eli se ha convertido en la fantástica facilitadora bilingüe de los Bichos Coloridos (Pk, Kinder, 1ro). Siempre la podemos encontrar elaborando proyectos súper interesantes, ideando actividades multisensoriales muy divertidas y creando experiencias únicas de aprendizaje para los miembros más pequeños de nuestra comunidad.

Meet Ms Eli
Ms. Eli studied Special Education at the National University of Costa Rica. She has extensive knowledge in areas such as Project-Based Learning and Positive Discipline. Ms. Eli joined the OTB team in August 2022 as the Community and Culture Lead, where she excelled in building strong ties between OTB and the Brasilito community as well as spearheading community outreach initiatives like our first Trunk or Treat, beach cleanups, and the Dona Tapa sustainability project.
However, at the core of Ms. Eli's heart lies a very special place for early childhood, which led her to take on the challenge of extending the program to preschool. This year, Ms. Eli has become the fantastic bilingual facilitator of the Colorful Bugs (PK, Kinder, 1st grade). You can always find her developing super interesting projects, designing fun multisensory activities, and creating unique learning experiences for the youngest members of our community!
Poco a poco empieza a visitarnos la lluvia en Brasilito. Bastan un par de aguaceros para volver a ver cómo va regresando el verde alrededor de OTB y todo va floreciendo de nuevo. Fue la semana perfecta para aprender sobre las características de la estación seca y la estación lluviosa con Ms. Mó. Los chicos de 2do-4to se aventuraron en una excursión al Centro ProAguas de Guanacaste donde exploraron usos sustentables de los recursos naturales. El grupo de Pk-1ro cuidó con mucho amor de nuestras plantas, con Ms. Eli investigaron más sobre la importancia de los árboles y lo que estos necesitan para vivir.
Profe Patrick inauguró la Sala Espacial y nos acompañó a hacer plasticina interestelar. Los chicos de 5to y 6to se adentraron en los secretos detrás del éxito de la llegada a la luna, terminaron sus escrituras de fantasías cósmicas y prepararon nuevos productos para la Tienda.
En el taller de cine con el profe Gabriel, creamos nuestros propios personajes originales y representamos pequeñas secuencias de escenas con fotografías.

Little by little the rain begins to visit us in Brasilito. A couple of downpours are enough to see how the green is returning around OTB and everything is blooming again! It was the perfect week to learn about the characteristics of the dry season and the rainy season with Ms. Mó. The 2nd-4th graders ventured on an field trip to the Guanacaste Water Center where they explored sustainable uses of natural resources. The Pk-1st group took loving care of our plants, with Ms. Eli they researched more about the importance of trees and what they need to live. Profe Patrick inaugurated the Space Room and show us how to make interstellar play-doh. The 5th and 6th graders dove into the secrets behind the success of the moon landing, finished their cosmic fiction writings, and prepared new products for the Store. In the film workshop with profe Gabriel, we created our very own characters and represented small sequences of scenes with pictures.
