Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, 26 May 2026 —APFNet led a plenary session titled “From Demonstration to Transformation: Scaling Community Forestry Solutions for Biodiversity and Livelihoods in the Asia-Pacific” during the regional conference “Community Forests for a Biodiverse Future.”

The APFNet-led plenary session explored how successful community forestry demonstration projects and long-term capacity-building efforts can move beyond pilot-level achievements to generate transformative, scalable outcomes aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It highlighted APFNet’s long-standing support and contribution to sustainable forest management, forest restoration, and sustainable development across the region through its demonstration projects, regional cooperation initiatives, and scholarship program.

From May 18 to 20, 2026, the Regional Coordination and Technical Support Meeting for the Integrated Forestry Project in Southeast Asia and the Pacific (supported by the Global Environment Facility, GEF), alongside the Inaugural Southeast Asia and the Pacific (SEAP) Primary Forest Annual Conference, was successfully held in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. Dr. Wang Chunfeng, the Executive Director of the APFNet, attended the event.

On 9 April 2026, a delegation from The Nature Conservancy (TNC) led by Ms. D**g Ke, Director of Global Engagement for TNC China, visited the APFNet Secretariat and held talks with Dr. Wang Chunfeng, Executive Director of APFNet. On 27 March 2026, the Forum on Nature-Based Garden City and Green Well-being, also serving as the 11th Beijing Forest Forum, was held at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center. Co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau and the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet), the event brought together government officials, international experts, and representatives from environmental organizations to explore the intersection of urban forestry, public well-being, and sustainable urban development. The forum was a key parallel session of the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference.

From 9 to 13 March 2026, a team led by Dr. Wang Chunfeng, Executive Director of the APFNet, visited to Anhui and Hainan Provinces to review the progress of two APFNet-funded projects: the “Demonstration Project on Forest Restoration and Sustainable Management in the Hilly and Low Mountain Areas of Southern China” and the “Hainan Tropical Forest Restoration and Sustainable Management Project.”
