Thousands of mourners from far and near joined the family of the late Board Chairman of the Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, Hope Sona Ebai, to accord him a befitting burial.
Hope Sona Ebai, who died on 4 March 2026, in Douala, was buried at his private residence in Mokube street, Buea Road, Kumba.
Fondly called "the people's Chairman" by his peers, Hope Ebai was buried on Saturday 25 April, in a private ceremony witnessed only by his siblings and progeny.
The Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and King of Kumba, Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, read out the condolence message from the CPDM to the surviving wife and family.
The CPDM Central Committee reckoned Hope Sona Ebai as a devoted, loyal and committed servant of the nation, who was also a steadfast, committed, and disciplined militant of the ruling party.
In his homily taken from the book of John 16:33, the Presbytery Secretary of PCC Kumba, Rev Albert Njasomo Dikoke, who led the college of clergymen and women, described the fallen statesman as a patriot who served his country with diligence and honour, and who always found time to serve the Lord despite his busy work schedules.
He enjoined mourners to live exemplary lives and avoid vices that will lead them to hell.
The General Manager of CDC, Franklin Ngoni Njie, said that 'the people's chairman', as Hope Sona Ebai was fondly called at the corporation, brought his rich experience and expertise to bear, especially at a time when the agro-industry was suffering and at the verge of collapse.
He stated that the Chairman was always available to the General Management and a source of inspiration to CDC workers and the general public.
For Terence Ebai, son of the deceased, his late father was a true product of K-town, who blossomed into greatness. He said his father was a highly skilled professional who gave his all to the world of Cocoa and Coffee.
For Jacob Wah, an in-law, Hope Sona Ebai was a great mixer and an inspiration.

Moderator Inducts New National Youth Work Secretary.
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, Rt. Rev. Miki Hans Abia has exhorted the National Secretary for the Youth Work Department of the PCC, to put in place a proper mechanism that will spiritually empower the Youths, and draw them more closer to God. He said the Youths are veritable assets of the church, mindful of the several distractions that tend to confuse them across the world, he stressed.
The chief shepherd of the church was speaking while instituting and inducting the Reverend Wa Ekosano Joshua Modika Cameroon as 10th PCC National Secretary for the Youth Work Department and also as a Support Pastor of the Presbyterian church, Fiango Central, Kumba.
The Moderator made the clarion call on Sunday February 22, 2026 in an event, that had in attendance, the Senator for kumba who doubles as the Nfon of kumba and Paramount Ruler of the Bafaws, Senator Nfon Mukete Ekoko IV, the Member of Parliament for Buea urban constituency, Hon Molomba Esembe, the MP for Meme west constituency, Hon Ekolle Peters ,representatives from the various fragments that make up the Youth Work Department of the church, a college of Pastors, Christians, friends.
In his homily, from the gospel of Mathew chapter 4:1-11, title tested and trusted, the Moderator of the PCC, described the new National Youth Secretary as a devoted young Pastor who has proven his integrity with time that he is fit to head such a department for the youths who are church leaders of tomorrow. He opined that the inductee has not heed to temptation nor pressure on the ever challenging world with vices like social media, artificial intelligence, drug abuse amongst others.
He was also charged to collaborate with other Pastors of the Presbytery because being a support Pastor of the Presbyterian church Fiango Central, the Treasury seat of the Presbytery..."you have come to collaborate and not to compete.

Bodongo Family Wade In, Claim Succession Right.
The Bodongo family, one of the 5( Bodongo, Bianja, Bitoh, Bibua, Bomosaka) founding families of Wone- Bakundu village has waded in the Chieftaincy crisis that has rocked the village for some time now. This follows an uproar by some villages that stagnated the holding of a Traditional coronation of the homologated Traditional ruler, of Wone- Bakundu, HRM, Chief Odine Nelson Njio, that was slated for December 27, 2025 in Wone. Zooming from the Protesters placards, they claimed to have another candidate and that the village were not dully consulted on the Chieftaincy succession prior to the selection of Prince Odine Nelson Njio as the Traditional ruler of Wone. Prince Odine Nelson had earlier been consulted severally by a former Divisional Officer of Konye, Mbotiji Houtison Babila, now Divisional Officer of Mamfe central in which all were in his favour. The Senior Divisional Officer of Meme Division at the time, Koulbout Aman David did not welcome the consultative talks and later sat in his office and designated a school Bursar, Njasomo Martin Njemo as the Traditional ruler of Wone in 2016.
In a document trending in the Social media, which we stumbled upon. The Bodongo lineage claimed the succession right to the throne in totality. The document postulated the Bodongo from which the current Traditional ruler, Chief Odine Nelson Njio hailed from as not only a divinely chosen, but as the custodian and leader among the other 4 families. The document also highlighted the hereditary foundation of the Wone Bakundu village from its forefathers who were predominantly Farmers and Hunters. It narrated a myth on how the Bodongo from time immemorial received the 1st share of beef after every hunting expedition or the animals may disappear incase any family received before the Bodongo. This hierarchical order from the document, placed the Bodongo lineage as the leading family.

2025-2026 School Year
Pastor Takes Over Command Of GHS Konye
School Resume As Teachers, Students Goes Back To Class.
School has effectively started at Government High School, GHS Konye for the 1st time in 7 years as a Pastor has taking over command as the Principal of the institution that has gone for 7 years and counting without opening its doors.This year's school resumption had blessings from some men of God of some local denominations.
Rev Pastor, Esobo Vincent Ndifor, a Season Educator, former Principal of GHS Diongo( Ikiliwindi) and Pastor of the Christ Gospel Mission, that is based in Buea, is the new Principal of GHS Konye. The Principal who is a former History/Geography Teacher of the same institution is having support from the administration that is assisting him in engaging strategies to ensure a smooth take off of the 2025-2026 school year in Konye, the emerging city.
At the start of the school year, Students were sported receiving lectures as the white chalk painted the blackboard once again with knowledge flowing from the Lecturers to the inquisitive students that have came to learn to better their life's.
In a chat with the Press, he underscored that the school has came to stay despite of the numerous challenges it face. He pointed out that in order to remedy the current situation which the school is undergoing, he has opened a Whattsapp group for all those who wish to assist in kind and cash. The assistance he said, shall go a long way to improve the learning and teaching process of the citadel of learning when fully put into use.
For his part, the President of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, Elangwe Isaac Ngoe, school has started, and the community has done its best and also clean the campus for the effective start of the school year. He added that community is behind the Principal and as a government school, the institution has qualified teachers to take the children through from the 1st to the 2nd cycle.

K-Town Golden Boy, PM Dion Ngute Campaigns For Biya
Says the K-town boy is back in his soil of Kang- Barombi, Buea road, Fiango, Hausa quarters, Mbonge road, Kumba town and parroted for the population to massively vote for Incumbent Paul Biya.
The Prime Minister and Head of government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has called on the population of Meme Division in the South West region to vote massively for incumbent President and candidate of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement party( CPDM), His excellency Paul Biya in order to ensure a landslide victory in the 2025 Presidential election on October 12, 2025.
The PM who described the green city of Kumba as the city of intelligence, city of football was speaking at the Kumba City grand stand, during a mega rally that brought the population of the 5 Sub-divisions of Meme Division viz:-( Kumba I, II, III, Mbonge and Konye) on Wednesday October 8, 2025. Prior to his speech, he donated the sum of 5,000,000 fcfa to newly promoted Elite II club, Kumba City FC and 3,000,000 fcfa to all dancing groups in the event.
He expounded on the link between himself and Kumba, stating that he was born in Kumba in his maternal uncle's residence, Pa Mokube at Kang- Barombi, started school in November 1, 1969, had his First School Leaving Certificate, FSLC, wrote exam into an institution in the Man O War bay and as well had his first girl friend in K- town. Adding that he cherished the memories of early his days in Kumba and said he must share the good things he enjoy in Yaounde with his people of Kumba. He enthused" As I dey untop black Plum tree as una brother, una too must chop black Plums".
He noted that with 4 more days to go for the Presidential elections, he needed nothing from them but just their votes to maintain his seat to in order to ensure a continuity of flow of projects to be allocated in the Division. CPDM Launches Presidential Campaign In Konye
Head of the Communal Campaign Team, likened Biya to an Old Cocoa Tree That bears more fruit than the others.
The Head of the Communal Campaign Team for Konye Sub- division, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe, who also doubles as the Mayor of the Konye Council, has raised the candidate of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement party, the CPDM as the best among the others for his experience, maturity and magnanimity in the way he manages and run the affair of the State.
He was speaking during the launching of campaigns to a mammoth crowd of diehard Militants that turned out on Saturday October 4, 2025 at the Konye Council esplanade. In attendance were the Divisional Officer of Konye, Attah Moses Ndep, representative of the Divisional Campaign Communal team, Chief Atinda Martin Mboni, Regional Councilors, WCPDM President, Abwa Agnes Ebentoh, Militants, Traditional rulers and a cross section of the population.
While lauding the efforts of the CPDM candidate as the best choice and a perfect example of a nation builder who has been piloting the affairs of the State with mastery. He called on the Militants of Meme III to cast their votes massively for him on October 12, 2025.
He noted that the worries of the Meme III CPDM Section is not to win the Presidential election, but rather to win outstandingly in a greater margin. He acknowledging that, the Meme III CPDM is well prepared and organize to triumph on October, 12, 2025.
He underscored that to match word with action, five Sub- committees have been created which are namely :- Konye, Mbakwa-supe, Baduma, Kombone and Wone to watch over election activities in the respective areas.
Worthy to also note campaign materials have been distributed to the various Sub-committees with Posters carrying the effigy of the CPDM candidate to be pasted as the campaigns unfold. The Militants have promised to give a resounding victory of a 100 percent vote to incumbent Biya

Ndoh Bertha Elected Pioneer President Of Meme Women's Forum.
The Board Chair of the Cameroon Oil Refinery Company, SONARA has been elected as the President of the Meme Women Association with its acronym ( MEWA). Married to the Traditional ruler of Kake-Bong wana, HRM Chief Oscar Ndoh, her leadership role has not gone unnoticed.
The former Trainer of Journalists at the University of Buea, UB, secured a 42 votes count over the other contenders, Bokwe Jennet and Lonje Ida that had 16 and 7 votes respectively. This was the major outcome, during the first elective general assembly of the newly form organ that took place at the Kumba I Council hall on Saturday August 16, 2025.
Others that were elected included, 1st vice President, Rose Andrew, Secretary General, Bokwe Jennet,Vice Secretary Evenye, Treasurer- Emilia Ngande, Financial sect-Ida lonje, Public Relations Officer, Emelda Modika, Legal Adviser- Ebanja Victorine, Supervisory board, Lucia Ediage Epse Sona
In a chat with the Press, Madam Ndoh said the idea was hatched after the celebration of the last South West Cultural festival that took place in Buea. She noted that, the initiative was welcomed since others have created such groupings in the other Divisions of the region and elsewhere and are forging ahead. She echoed "we thought it wise to creat it, because have to be each others keeper"," we need to move infront and put in place an executive to make Meme a better place as the future is bright".
She noted that the association has no political bearing, but rather a forum and a wake up call for Meme women to empower themselves by themselves. Adding that the association shall spread its branches all over the world for it to be a force to reckon with.
She used the occasion as well to call on the Meme women to be resilient and united for the general good. The one day event was equally an opportunity to review the constitution of the association.
The diaspora is expected to produce the 2 vice.

Nfon Ekoko Mukete IV Newly Appointed Quarter Head Install
He is the first Bafaw son to occupy the seat from origin.
The newly appointed quarter head of Ekemue I by the Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and King of Kumba, Senator Nfon Ekoko Mukete IV, has been installed.
Sona Ngoh Johnson was giving the command baton at his residence in the central metropolise by the Chairman of Kumba Traditional Council, Abwa Mbontana Abwa, representative of the Paramount ruler on Friday August 15, 2025.
While introducing the new Quarter head to the Ekemue I population, the representative of the Nfon stated that he is a bonafide son of the land and the first Bafaw son to be appointed as quarter head of Ekemue I. He argued that if the Bafaws are appointed only now, it was because they were the early community's to practice in reality the principle of "vivre ensemble(living together).
He thanked the population of Ekemue I for their massive turn-out to witness the installation ceremony of their leader to pilot the affairs of the quarter. EkemueI I, is a dynamic quarter found in the heart of Kumba urban metroplise situated along the Buea-Kumba road axis.
He remarked that his appointment is not by chance but rather a fulfilling one as he is convinced that he is going to Lead the people of Ekemue I in the right way for peace and tranquility to reign. He quipped " a leader serve, not to be served"" bring love and unity within the Ekemue I quarter"
He furthered that, henceforth all problems without solutions should be brought to the new quarter head for proper solutions with approval from the Paramount ruler. He cautioned that there there shall be challenges but such challenges shall be surmounted through effective collaboration by the quarter head and his Councilors.
For his part, the representative of the Divisional Officer of Kumba I, Fang Gilbert, says his message was that of peace, love, kindness to be shared among the neighbours.

Batuo Paul's Wife Launches Book On Virtuous Woman
She was inspired by the fallen standard of the girl child and the society at large.
The wife of former State Counsel of Kumba and Meme High Court, Justice Batuo Paul Akong has launched a book which depicts the true values of an ideal woman in the 21st century.
The book title " the Beauty of a virtuous woman" was launched in Kumba, Chief town of Meme Division in the South West region on Sunday August 10, 2025 at the City Council chambers in the presence of 3rd Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Manekeu Ndoping Nadesh-Carole. Others present were Justice Batuo Paul Akong, Simen Micheal, book launcher, Regional Delegate of Women's Empowerment and the family, Ediage Lucia Epse Sona, Writers, MOHWA women and a cross section of the population.
While launching the 104 page book, spread in 10 chapters, the Chief launcher and retired Literary guru, Simen Micheal lauds the author for taking her time to produce such a masterpiece for a positive change and reflection on the values of women and the entire society.
He underscored that the author, Orock Cecilia Batuo has been his product in the Cameroon College of Arts and Science, C.C.A.S Kumba, and has merely use her work to paint a true picture of the solid intellectual background he nurtured on his students. Adding that he is proud to have produced such a workaholic student who reflects him in his academic work.
He stated that, the book, "Beauty of a virtuous woman" is a holistic indispensable book, rich in content and come at the time when children are at the crossroad of morality.
For the book reviewer, Esum Jackline, a formal class made of the author in CCAS, the arts work depicts a tribute to the Godly character of women as a treasure to build the home and the society. The piece she stated, is printed in gold by a woman for the women and is more of a deep reflection to overturn and erode the decaying morality and fallen standards.
