Big steps Outreach Network (BONET) is a youth led, apolitical, religious non -conforming organization in Cameroon working for and with young people. Since its founding in 2011 BONET has worked tirelessly in the face of a myriad of obstacles to address issues of marginalization, inequality, HIV/AIDS and other challenges facing especially young people with disabilities, orphans/vulnerable children

participants engaged in practical exercises on fish farming, where they identified different pond types and learned best practices for stocking ponds with fingerlings.
Simultaneously, gardening trainees gained hands-on experience in soil identification, nursery preparation, seed sowing, and transplanting techniques.
The practical sessions highlighted the importance of experiential learning in agriculture. By applying concepts directly in the field, participants are developing the confidence and technical competence needed to become successful .

From Theory to Practice: Building the Next Generation of Agribusiness Leaders
Today marked an exciting milestone in our Sustainable Integrated Agribusiness Training Program as we introduced our 50 participants to hands-on practical sessions. The energy, enthusiasm and commitment displayed throughout the day were truly outstanding.
In aquaculture, participants gained practical exposure to identifying various types of fish ponds and learned the correct procedures for introducing fingerlings into ponds an essential step toward successful fish production.
In horticulture, trainees explored different soil types and their characteristics, prepared nursery beds, sowed seeds, and practiced effective transplanting techniques. These practical skills are fundamental to establishing productive and sustainable gardens.
This training goes beyond knowledge acquisition; it is about empowering vulnerable groups and individuals with real-world skills that can transform livelihoods, strengthen food security, and create sustainable business opportunities.
The future of agriculture belongs to those who are willing to learn, innovate, and take action. Today, our participants took another important step in that journey

Empowering the Next Generation of Project Leaders.
We were delighted to welcome six dynamic students from Vocational Training Institute for an enriching learning experience in Project Management.
Coming from diverse academic and professional backgrounds including Teaching, Business, and Entrepreneurship these young minds demonstrated a strong passion for learning, growth, and leadership. Throughout their visit, they had the opportunity to move beyond theory and engage with the practical realities of project management, gaining hands-on insights into planning, ex*****on, teamwork, problem-solving, and project writing and implementation.
At the heart of our training is a commitment to equipping young people with practical skills, relevant knowledge, and real-world experience that prepare them for success in today's competitive environment. We believe that every young person has unique potential, and our mission is to help them discover their purpose, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to turn their ideas into impactful projects.
Learning is most powerful when knowledge meets action. We commend these students for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication to personal and professional development. We are confident that the skills gained today will contribute to their future success and empower them to become agents of positive change in their communities.

Big Step Outreach Network ( ) is currently implementing a transformative initiative in Bamenda III aimed at empowering vulnerable women, youth, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) through sustainable agribusiness.
Through hands-on training, mentorship, economic empowerment and peacebuilding activities, participants are gaining the skills and opportunities needed to build stronger livelihoods, promote community resilience, and contribute to a more food-secure future.
Together, we are nurturing agribusiness entrepreneurs and creating pathways for peace, sustainability, and economic growth in Bamenda, Cameroon.

Within the framework of ongoing our facilitators introduced participants to the , highlighting the vital role agriculture continues to play in human existence and economic development. From the traditional farming practices of earlier generations to today’s modern agricultural systems, farming remains essential in providing food, raw materials, employment, and strengthening food security worldwide.
Worthy to note past experiences in agriculture have shown that successful farming requires patience, proper planning, continuous learning, and dedication.
Agriculture is not just a business it is a lifestyle, a source of livelihood, and a contribution to national development and food security.

Strengthening Learning Through Engagement: SIT Cameroon Students Visit BONET
We were honored to host students from the School for International Training (SIT) Cameroon at the Big Steps Outreach Network (BONET) office in Yaounde. The visit provided an engaging platform to exchange ideas and explore the vital role of civil society organizations in fostering economic empowerment of , , vulnerable persons, and community development.
Led by the Managing Director, Dr. Sakah Bernard, the session highlighted BONET’s journey since 2010 growing into a dynamic organization operating across 8 regions of Cameroon and impacting over 50,000 vulnerable persons including , , etc.
Some key highlights shared during the visit:
• 102+ vulnerable girls reintegrated into formal education through the Second Chance Education Program in partnership with
• 200+ IDP women and girls trained in income-generating activities (detergents, cosmetics & poultry farming)
• 50+ women supported with start-up kits for small businesses
• 2,000+ young women reached with dignity kits
• 830+ parents and husbands sensitized on women’s empowerment
• 300+ community leaders engaged to challenge harmful norms
• 200+ children supported through our nursery facilities
We also highlighted our work in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response, including awareness campaigns, psychosocial support, and referrals to health and legal services helping create safer communities for women and girls.
