I am back in Chile to update the maps!

Que triste para EEUU y el resto del mundo. Viviendo en Cerro La Cruz con la vista del puerto Prat de Punta Arenas desde 1999. US Antarctic Program usa mucho como base Punta Arenas. Siempre estuvo el Laurence M. Gould y/o Nathaniel B. Palmer. Palmer también fue sacado. Este gobernó termino muchas programas scientifica en Antartica como ICE Bridge y otros. Todos los proyecto que tienen "Climate Change" estan en peligro. Muchos países están entrando Antartica ahora y EEUUU esta saliendo.

It's sad for the USA and the world that the USA is again pulling back and taking a back seat in world affairs. Especially in Antarctica. Since 1999 when first moved to Punta Arenas I would often see the Laurence M. Gould and/or the Nathaniel B. Palmer docked in port. Many winters. While many countries are entering Antarctica, the US is leaving.

This year’s SCGIS Conference down in Shepherdstown WV was again fun, informative, great networking and nice location. The US Fish and Wildlife Training Center on the Potomac River with beautiful forests and fields. A bit of a hike to the river It was interesting to bump into colleagues using GIS for conservation and environmental activism. This year was attended a bit less than previous years due to the layoffs of GIS conservation professionals at all the public agencies. Few USFW, NASA, Forest Service and other public sectors. The public section of conservation center seemed unaffected but talking to employees there were many layoffs and programs cut. An interesting NASA workshop was cancelled for political reasons.
I did car camping so saved a bunch as well as going down to Harper’s Ferry WV and camped, mtn biked in the Michaux State Forest

A great 5 days with 2.5 feet of snow, x-country skiing, and car camping in the ADKs. Then the Danbury Hospital ER, a nice room and emergency operation. Too much physical activity may have created elbow bursitis, and which then infected to become septic bursitis. Urgent Care in Ridgefield, Dr. Cannata indicated I get to an ER ASAP. Danbury ER, empty on a Wednesday afternoon?! Got right in, no time to read magazines. Detected serious infection in
the right elbow. Having broken it back in 22 it contained hardware. Immediately admitted, intravenous antibiotics, operation to drain, clean and remove hardware. After 4 days of intravenous antibiotics, they let me go with another month worth of antibiotic. Hope my gastro-biotics come back. Excellent service at Danbury Hospital and Urgent Care Ridgefield.

4 días de 1.5 metros de nieve, esquí de fundo y acampada en automóvil en los montanas Adironack en Nueva York. Luego la sala de del Hospital de Danbury, una bonita habitación y una operación urgente. Infección grave detectada en el codo derecho. Habiéndolo roto en el año 22, contenía hardware. Ingreso inmediato, antibióticos intravenosos, operación de drenaje, limpieza y extracción de la placa. Después de 4 días de antibióticos intravenosos, me dejaron a salir con un mes de antibiótico. Espero que mis gastro bióticos vuelvan. Excelente servicio en Danbury Hospital y Urgent Care Ridgefield y todos los doctores, enfermeras y otros a salvar me!
