A productive two‑day workshop with Pacific officials, ADB and PCRIC concluded this week, centred on strengthening disaster risk financing across the region.

With climate and disaster risks increasing, governments are under pressure to secure timely and predictable financing when disasters occur. Parametric insurance is one tool — but renewal is the moment to step back, reassess needs, and understand the options and trade‑offs.

ADB and PCRIC are collaborating closely to ensure governments have access to the technical insights needed to make informed, country‑led decisions. The workshop provided a rare space for open dialogue on premiums, coverage, payouts, basis risk and affordability — reflecting a strong appetite for continued learning and future workshops.
