There is a new monoprint in our shop, made up from layers of recent posters and some really old ones.

During the set up of a print run a few pulls are made on a random piece of paper, to see, if the registration is tight and to varify the opacity of the ink.
Over time this piece of paper accumulates imagery and takes on a design of its own.

This is a one-of-a-kind art print, a product of the screen printing process, made from up to 10 unique layers, printed within months or years!
Please note:
Test prints may have small scarfs on the edges and/or marks or printing on the reverse side.

Look no further, here is the »Spiegelsaal Testprint Kalender 2026«!

It’s a wall calendar printed on some of our most beautiful test print sheets.
What is a test print and what makes it unique you might ask?!

Test prints are products of the screen printing process.
To check if registration is tight and to varify the opacity of the ink, a few extra sheets are printed at the beginning of a print run. Since these sheets are then used again for months or years, image elements from various print runs overlap on them over time. This creates a unique, completely unplanned design.

The pages for the whole year were printed on a 50×70 cm test print sheet and cut to size. As a result, no two calendars are alike; each page and each calendar is absolutely unique.

Yes, it’s a German language calendar, but we trust in you to figure out the months, dear non-german speaking customers!

Please note: These are (rather sloppy) mock up images, as we are currently in the middle of production.
It’s highly unlikely, that you’ll get exactly these pages.

148×163 mm, various 300 gsm papers, 14 pages, spiral binding, limited edition, signed and hand numbered.

The NDR Bigband, Hamburg’s Radio Jazz Orchestra (»one of the most inspiring European big bands«)
asked us to develop an album cover design concept for their newly founded digital label.

The albums feature their take on the music of either a stand out (classical) composer or genre/concept.
The briefing asked for a design that made it easy to recognize the covers as a series, yet open enough to suit the music/composer, and it was supposed to stand out from the corporate NDR design.

We developed dynamic minimalistic portraits of the composers in combination with a series of patterns that were inspired among others by elements of the music’s score or the time it was created.

We did three cover designs so far:
»Visting Krzysztof« (Krzysztof Penderecki)
»Pulp Friction« (Kalle Kalima’s take on the music of Pulp Fiction)
»Walking with Igor – A suite for Soloist Orchestra« (conductor Geir Lysne’s take on Stravinsky)

The next album will be released shortly.

The asked us to create a give away for the participants and tutors of the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy. 25 young musicians trained their skills for a week, leading to a concert with all participants on last Sunday.
We secured us a small batch of APs which we will put in our shop next week.
