✨ Origins of the Song
"We Wish You a Merry Christmas" originates from 16th-century England, specifically the West Country region. It was sung by carolers who went door-to-door on Christmas Eve, entertaining wealthy households.

In exchange for their songs, they expected treats to warm them on cold winter nights—and their favorite demand was figgy pudding!

✨ What is Figgy Pudding?
Now known as Christmas Pudding (or Plum Pudding), it's a rich, steamed dessert made with dried fruits (raisins, currants, sultanas...), suet, breadcrumbs, spices, and often soaked in brandy.

Despite the name "figgy," it usually referred to raisins (called "figs" in some dialects)—not necessarily actual figs.

✨ Victorian Tradition
In the Victorian era, thanks to Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria, it became the iconic Christmas dessert. Traditionally flamed with brandy (blue flames!), garnished with holly, and sometimes hiding lucky coins inside. A true spectacle! 🔥🍮
