Yesterday, seven-month-old Palestinian infant Sam Fahd Abu Haikal was killed after Israeli forces opened fire on his family’s car in the occupied West Bank. His parents were wounded.

No child’s killing should provoke less outrage because that child is Palestinian. No grieving parents should receive less sympathy because they are Palestinian. No life should be valued according to nationality, ethnicity, or politics.

When the killing of a child fails to shock the world with equal force, it is not only that child’s humanity that is denied, it is our own.

This is part of a video we have obtained as our teams continue to document dozens of cases of children who were targeted and sniped in . Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician who saved countless lives, is now in solitary confinement, tortured for months. The same doctor who held a bullet from a child’s neck now waits for the world to save him.

Since the October 2025 ceasefire, nearly 950 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip, not in a renewed “war,” but under what was meant to be a pause in it.

What has continued instead is a pattern of daily bombardment and intermittent airstrikes, repeatedly hitting residential neighbourhoods, apartment buildings, and civilian infrastructure across the Strip.

Families who believed the worst had passed have instead found themselves living through an ongoing cycle of fear, where “ceasefire” has not meant safety, but a shift in the tempo of attacks rather than their end.

Entire homes have been struck while people were inside. Others have been reduced to rubble in areas already heavily damaged, forcing survivors to search again through collapsed buildings for those still missing beneath the debris. In many cases, there is no warning that comes in time to matter.

What stands out is not only the scale of loss, but the persistence of it, the fact that civilian areas remain repeatedly exposed, long after the ceasefire was declared, and despite repeated calls for protection of civilian life.

A ceasefire, in practice, should mean an end to the killing. In Gaza, it has not.

Under the weight of relentless bombardment and ongoing attacks, is forcibly displacing civilians from their villages and towns across , turning the reality on the ground into a landscape of destruction and reshaping it on the ruins of entire communities. This transformation by force is not merely a military escalation or a wartime tactic, it is a systematic plan to impose long-term military control and a new geographical reality at the expense of people. It constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and seeks to erase civilians’ rights to live on their land, return to their homes, and remain connected to their territory.
