What an amazing way to end the year. The emotions are still burning and I have trouble finding my words. Overwhelmed by all the love and support I got from you and sorry I can not answer to each and every one ❤️
My thanks go especially to my club for making my career possible and supporting me unconditionally over a decade now. Not an easy job to do, supporting a woman in a male dominated sport, where the recognition is basically zero. But we did it anyway and achieved something historic. How amazing is that?
But nothing would have been possible without the person who was crazy enough to believe in me when everyone else laughed. Without his vision, commitment, perseverance and a titanic work we would not be standing here today. this title is in your honor, you earned it and I am proud you chose me to achieve greatness together. We did it!
We are world champions! As unreal as that might sound ❤️

Timar ist 1. Schweizer Box-Weltmeisterin 🏆

🥊 Gabriela «Balboa» Timar siegt am Boxing Day den Kampf im Atomgewicht (bis 46,2 kg) gegen Marina Loreto (JPN). Timar ist damit die 1. Weltmeisterin im Boxen aus der Schweiz.

🥊 Im Berner Kursaal muss die 39-Jährige über die vollen 10 Runden, am Ende gewinnt sie nach Punkten. Die Punktrichter sahen die Baslerin vorne (98:92, 95:95, 97:93).

🥊 Der Titel im Atomgewicht der World Boxing Organization (WBO) war freigeworden, weil die letzte Weltmeisterin im Oktober ihr Karriereende verkündet hatte.

🥊 Zudem gewinnt der Schweiz-Dominikaner Angelo Peña auch seinen 13. Profi-Kampf und verteidigt seinen WBO-Intercontinental-Titel.
