Encompass FG Basel

At today’s monthly Encompass Assembly, we revisited the goals that we set in the autumn. Students reflected on their progress; while some have achieved what they set out to do, others admitted that it was still a work in progress. Most importantly, don’t give up!

We were inspired by a BGT clip. We witnessed someone who was able to achieve his goal against the odds and discussed the process involved leading to this achievement.

Furthermore, we felt that he personifies Resilience (one of our four school values).

According to C.S Lewis you are never too old to set another goal. So go on, what are you waiting for?

In May we continue to practice Kindness and use the school calendar for inspirational ideas.

Meet the mood monsters! At this month’s assembly we met some of them - rage, fear, sadness and happiness. We considered how a picture of a group of children could each experience one of these emotions while waiting to ride on a rollercoaster. What makes us happy, sad, fearful or angry? How do we deal with our emotions? These are just a few questions our primary students will ponder in May.

At our monthly Encompass assembly, we discussed the important topic of identity. Who are you? We often think about ourselves in terms of gender, nationality, age or occupation. Students discussed how they are character wise as well (are you patient, kind, happy or curious?) It’s important for students to recognize their uniqueness and become their best version.

Friday 17th February is World Kindness Day. The Encompass Programme decided to use the whole week to encourage staff and students to collectively spread a little kindness. Need any ideas? If so, here are some aimed towards children.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is next Friday, 17th February. It’s an opportunity to spread a bit of kindness. You could buy your colleague a coffee, do someone a favour, or pay someone a compliment. Our plans at the FG are in place, are yours?

Encompass: growing together supports emotional growth, acknowledging Pestalozzi's holistic "head, heart and hand" approach to learning. At the FG, Students learn to uphold values such as courage, empathy, respect and resilience. This is why our grass is so green:)
