Some photos from our recent concerts in Basel and Geneva ✨

It was such a special experience performing across such distinct musical worlds. We performed our 13th-century repertoire of Notre Dame polyphony in the first half of the concert, followed by a long improvisation with the percussionists of Ensemble Batida in the second half.

Did you know that the York Early Music Festival has been named by The Times as one of the Best Classical Music Festivals of 2026? With this year's festival being our 50th, big thanks to Neil Fisher for introducing us as 'motherlode for top-class performances of baroque, medieval and renaissance music', putting us alongside the big G's (Glyndebourne, Grange Park, Garsington, The Grange). Wist je dat het vandaag 432 jaar geleden is dat Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer geboren werd in het Overijsselse Delden? Jaarlijks vindt tijdens het Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht het naar hem vernoemde Internationaal Van Wassenaer Concours plaats - een mooie opstap voor jong oudemuziektalent.

Eén van de prijzen is een Tournee tijdens het concertseizoen van het Festival Oude Muziek. De vier zangeressen van Contre le Temps wonnen deze prijs in 2023 en trekken in januari en februari dan ook door Nederland met de mooiste middeleeuwse polyfonie en gregoriaanse melodieën!

Cette semaine, focus “Jeunes Talents” sur « Contre le Temps », quatuor vocal féminin spécialisé dans la musique médiévale. Formées à la Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Bâle, Suisse), les quatre chanteuses -deux françaises, deux américaines- reviennent sur leur parcours, la création de l’ensemble et leurs projets à venir.

This week’s Young Talents spotlight is on Contre le temps, a female vocal quartet specializing in medieval music. Trained at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland), the four singers -two French, two American- look back on their journey, the founding of the ensemble, and their upcoming projects.
