April 2026 marks two years since the young orca known as Brave Little Hunter, or kwiisahi?is, successfully swam out of the remote lagoon of Little Espinosa, a feat that captivated the world. After being stranded for over a month following the loss of her mother, her escape during the high tide of April 26, 2024 remains a powerful symbol of resilience and the deep-seated instinct for survival. Today, her journey serves as a reminder of the extraordinary efforts made by the Local First Nation and dedicated rescuers, celebrating a triumphant return to the open ocean where the spirit of "Brave Little Hunter" continues to endure.
